That other "guy" was a chick too , suprisingly
One thing I don't understand is how some peoples minds seem to have this strange "Old is better" mentality going on
Arch enemys 1st vocalist sucked big time tbh , but some people favor their older music?
Then theres just countless people obsessed with classic rock and/or classic heavy metal who run around hating on new stuff with no valid reasons
I hate it when people have that "old is better" mentality

That is true. It pisses me off when people seem to think, that if a band is old, they are good, and that they influenced every band in the genre.
Whats peoples thoughts on the new Arctic Monkeys album? Probably my least favourite album by them.

I liked it actually. They branched out a bit and it was good to hear them try something new. That being said, there weren't really any songs that stood out or were something overly amazing, so I give it about ***1/2. I commend the initative but in the end the songs themselves just don't bring enough to the table.

Oh ok , Johan Liiva just sounds like a girl name so I figured he was a girl too

I think the "Liiva" part made me think it was a girl

Re: Official Rock Discussion Thread
About the arguement of old songs I don't agree entirely with the posters who are saying that people just assume old is better. Its took me years to discover it but I genuinely believe that british stuff from the 70's is alot better than anything else that has ever been produced.
I still love new bands that have been out for a few years like The Editors, Artic Monkeys and the Twang but you only have to listen to an enemy album back to back with a Jam album and see that those guys have been really influenced by the latter. Both bands are awesome but I believe its a new sonG on the enemy album thats chorus sounds almost identical to the Jam's song The Eton Rifles. I can't remember the name of the song but if someone does look it up I'am sure you'll be suprised.
Anyways I'am posting because I want some new songs for my ipod, ideally songs that I have not discovered yet. Here is a list of songs I am really into right now, most of which are classics -
The Cranberries - Linger
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Glasvegas - Daddys Gone, Geraldine, Flowers and Football tops
Nirvana - You know your right, **** me, Heart Shaped Box
Creed - My Sacrifice
Lynard Skynard - Simple Man
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
Babyshambles - Fuck Forever
The Editors - Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors
James Blunt - Annie
Joy Division - Transmission, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Atmosphere, Twenty Four Hours
The Jam - Eton Rifles
Madness - Nightboat to Cairo
The Veronicas - Untouched lol
Nickelback - Next Contestant
Anyone think of any songs or bands I would like?
Also does anyone know the UK release date of the Editors third album?
Edit - Haha I love how the forum censors r*pe but not fuck. Quality

R*ape was censored due to a handful of members just typing the word R*APE as a post. It was something started on another forum, so to stop the spam, we censored the word.
Anyways, as for what to listen to, go back over this thread, the currently listening thread or the last album listened to thread. Quite simple really.
The Cranberries are a great band. Linger is a beautiful song.

Songs?
I reccomend completing The Veronicas album "Hook me up" every single song on its good
I reccomend "Nevermind" by Nirvana if you don't already have it (Since the songs you listed are from In utero)
Some bands I think you might like include : (Alternative) The Fray , Interpol , Coldplay , O.A.R. , Kings of leon , Puddle of mudd , Garbage and then Metro station (Similar to The Veronicas)
