Yeah, they're probably the biggest prog-rock band today. If you like them you should also definately check out The Mars Volta. Same genre but a bit less metal. Amputechture (their newest album) is loaded with awesome tracks.

yes I won't deny that, they did lay down a lot for many that came next. But the fact is they recieve too much credit sometimes. I'm not denying that they aren't good, but the fact that a lot of people consider One and Master of Puppets to be the best songs ever, are beyond me. And also I have met a lot of people who only know Metallica from what they did on their St. Anger album, yet they call them the best band ever, therefore in a sense overrating them. In my opinion they are influential for sure, but they get enough credit.

Yeah, Slayer is awesome, i like Raining blood the most, also seasons in the abyss is good.
My current favorite rock song is welcome to the jungle by GnR.
Im not a fan of death metal etc. I like more just rock 'n' roll without lots of screaming.

If those are your favorite Killswitch Engage songs then you should probably listen to more of them...

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
Ok, its time for the age old metal question, that ive spent many a night arguing with friends over it, only banter though. Here it is: Megadeth or Metallica
Personally, I think Megadeth, I prefer their albums alot more and Friendman is a far better guitarist than Hamment. I guess 'Tallica have had more fame, but in the long run, Megadeth have kept more consistent, and never....."sold out" like Metallica did with Load and Reload. I do like Metallica, don't get me wrong, I have all their albums and seen them live, and their great live, I just think that you get more out of Megadeth's music, and their more diverse than Metallica. Remember My opinion. Yours?
And oh yeah, Mustaines IS a dick.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
In enjoy both of them, but Megadeth a bit more. I like Mustaines voice more than James.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I'm going with Metallica cause I prefer there songs more then MegaDeth.
Megadeth are still in my favorite bands though and are awesome.
Another question for the A7x fans like myself what did you think of the new album?
I actually thought it was good but Waking The Fallen & City Of Evil where better.
Atleast it was better then Sounding The seventh trumpet which sucked.

And that makes them overrated how?
Metallica are NOT overrated in any way shape or form. Would you like to go into the tangible things that we can actually measure like record sales, concert sales and the like? Or would you like to see how many bands themselves list Metallica *you know..their peers* as the best or a huge influence? And I really can't believe that most of your friends that know Metallica only know the St Anger album... That album was sub-par to be kind. They would really love Metallica if they heard their entire library.

Rotting Christ fan?
But yeah, if I prefer Megadeth over Metallica and not because Metallica "sold out". I found Rust in Peacece to be more enjoyable to listen to than any of Metallica's earlier works (Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, MOP)
