It's really hard to pick a favorite solo, but I gotta go with the first one in Gmama Ray's Rebellion In Dreamland. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeiX6bf2OPI
And second favorite has to be Kalmah's Principle Hero, so amazingly fast and metallic. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5cnIZ5Bzts

sub-genre's anything, just curious. Band examples would help.
I think everyone knows by now I'm into all the 'core genre's and into Metal/Alternative stuff.

Top 5 genres/sub-genres, in order:
1) (Classic) Heavy Metal (Maiden, Priest, Sabbath)
2) Power Metal (Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Helloween)
3) Melodic Death Metal (Arch Enemy, Kalmah, Scar Symmetry)
4) Metalcore (Kilswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains)
5) Rock (Rise Against, Anberlin)
Rise Against and Anberlin are both in my top 5 bands of all time, just don't really listen to any other Rock besides them.

I'm into stuff like Speed and thrash metal like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and some Anthrax, plus motherhead and Ozzy.
I like some Sabbath ans Priest. Older Pantera(first 2 Albums)
I'm also into Some 80's hair metal like Bon Jovi and Motley Crue.
When it comes to Rock i like the older bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith,Zeppelin, Skynyrd,Van Halen.
New bands that i like are System,Slipknot, and Disturbed's first 2 Albums

Funeral For a Friend's new cd is awful. How did this band go from being my favorite band, and awesome to pure shit. Hours was pretty good, not quite 7 Ways good, but solid. Then the next disc had a track or two. The new cd has nothing that caught my ear.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
The music video for "Dead Memories" was directed by P. R. Brown. On September 30, 2008 the band's record label Roadrunner Records released a 15 second teaser video on YouTube which featured vocalist Corey Taylor in what appears to be a grave in torrential rain.[3] The video is scheduled to premier on MTV's Headbangers Ball on October 25, 2008 as part of Headbangers Ball 20th anniversary special program.
Guess there is gonna be a wait till Dead Memories premieres.
I have been getting into some Led Zeppelin lately, their songs are really put together very well.

They went from being a good up starting edgy band, to being tame, and the singer now sounding like everyone's favourite granddad. Just a whiny band now for me. Me thinks the record label had a strong input in their change.
