Your right, but that all is apart of their gimmick. Joey, Jim, Paul, Mick and Corey are the foundation all the other stuff is the icing on the cake. Without all 9 members the songs wouldn't be as solid, it would start to sound lackluster.
Not to mention all the members probably have a lot of creative control on how the songs turn out so I see how they're a vital asset to the group all nine guys.

The live shows wouldnt be as crazy and hectic if they were the only members. I remember seeing slipknot on the iowa tour when i was like 14, and the were crazy live, especially the dj who had the skull mask back then. But the guy on the decks with the spikes on his mask is pointless, all he did was stand at the decks headbanging.  |

I forgot who it was (I think its Clown), but if you watch the Duality video he is so pointless. I don't know if he does anything on the actual song, but in the video all he was doing was walking around hitting barrels at random and rare times.
