Cold has long been one of my favorite bands, even though they're not together anymore. Year Of The Spider was an absolutely awesome album, one of the first I ever picked up that I never skipped a track on. Some of their unreleased stuff is good too, like "With My Mind" and "Came All The Way"
Their drummer was wicked as well.

Just because someone doesn't like a certain style doesn't mean they aren't open minded about it either. I'm open minded about all music and I really can't listen to songs where the vocalist chooses to scream and growl over actually singing. Like I said before, that's not my taste but I would never have anything against others who enjoy that stuff. It's great that people have different tastes in music.

I never got into Priest all that much either. Their new CD is a concept CD and I heard the first of the two CD's and didn't really get into it.
That being said, I love the song Living After Midnight.

I wouldnt care if you would let one joke or comment or opinion on Death Metal that isn't positive slide, but to any post that in some way doesn't praise the genre, you feel the need to defend it like it's your precious.
Raj, Cold are a great band. Year Of The Spider has some good songs on it including Remedy, Wasted Years, Sad Happy and A Different Kind Of Pain isn't bad either, a touch emo with the lyrics but still some good tracks.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I really enjoy Judas Priest.
But, Disturbed concert is my first priority, only problem is, it's a month before my HSC (major exam in NSW). I'm still going, don't care.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I like Priest. I haven't heard too much from them. But I like their latest album and their British Steel album.
Man all this talking about Cold makes me crave a reunion

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
Rajah, any idea on what music Disturbed will be playing? Is it just going to be a set of their new album or will they play some old stuff too? I'd mark for some songs off the Believe album

I love the Blank Theory. I gave a link to a youtube vid in my post. I first heard them in the movie Final Destination 2. When I hired the DVD it had the clip to the song. After hearing about a minute of it I downloaded the album.
Beyond the Calm Of The Corridor, great album.
Edit, Kenny, I'd expect more of their newer stuff. After all the tour is to promote the new album. They'll no doubt do a best of their older stuff.

I like the music of a lot of Death Metal bands. I'll use Nile as example, don't bother correcting the genre as it's not important, but as musicians they are a very talented band. To me it's a pity the vocals are what they are. It appeals to many, not me.
I really love the vocals of Disturbed singer David Draiman. He has that edge that borders on screaming but it's controlled enough to sound awesome. Tehn you listen to teh song Darkness off the Believe album as he sounds so sombre and melodic. I also like Chester from Linkin Park when he really screams. The chorus of "With You" from Hybrid Theory is a perfect example.
The [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XqRQmGoaB4Roadrunner United[/url] album has a song called The End. I didn't realise the guy who sung that is the singer from Trivium. He sound so different, much better.
Anyone else listen to bands like Cold and The Blank Theory? I was going to mention Breaking Benjamin but I know there are some fans here.

I get what your saying. Just throughout a lot of your posts it made it seem like you were putting down their talents. I know a lot of people like you who dig heavy music but without the screaming and I can appreciate that I just hate it when people in general diss musicians that are good and I know they are.
I simply used Guns n' Roses as an example I didn't know you weren't that big into them.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I don't mind GnR. Appetite For Destruction is a must have for any music fan.
I have Nile's album, Ithyphallic. Listening to the first song, What May Be Safely Written, now. The drumming and vocals ruin it for me. I skipped a lot of tracks. The opening of Eat Of The Dead is cool. I prefer an actual use of vocal ability. Anyone can scream, but to sing, really sing, takes talent. Just listened to This Calling by All That Remains. The verses are screamed, but the chorus is sung, and sung well.
