I wouldn't call Slayer Death metal. Far from it. Slayer were part of the first Trash movement with Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth. Each band is far from being Thrash these days. May too many bands taking over from them.

I don't like Death Metal, let alone know who would be in that genre these days. I have
some music by bands like Nile and All That Remains. Not sure what you'd pigeon hole those bands as. I like the music, can't stand the growling vocals.

I'd say that Slayer are still thrash, not like they once were but thrash nonetheless.

I really wonder why they can't see it repulses most people. If they sang normally along with at times their good music, it'd be so much better.

Screaming/Growling/Yelling through a song is just horrible and showcases a lack of normality in a singer

I can't stand to listen to Death Metal, although I do get a laugh out of it. I watched Singing With the Enemy in which a Death Metal band collaborated with a girl band, great laugh. The facial expressions the bloke was pulling was as if someone stuck something up his ass and he was in agony. The themes they sing about are hilariously disgusting too (Amputated song about gargling with infected semen and lesbian shit eating, the fuck?).

Yeah, not a fan. Not a fan at all.

I only like Death Metal when it's Melodic Death Metal, cos the awesome guitars make it worth listening to. If it's Metalcore (All That Remains, As I Lay Dying) then it's got to have some clean vocals, otherwise it's kinda worthless (As I Lay Dying's first album, for example).

I can understand Metalcore, it's not as bad as Death metal. Not a fan, but if I had to make a choice, Metalcore > DM.

Metalcore is nice, I am a pretty big fan of All That Remains, and As I Lay Dying. I like In Flames, but I don't really know what that's categorized as. Other than that I can't bear death metal.

Well really that's just your opinion that Screaming/Growling/Yelling through a song is horrible, I happen to like Death Metal.

And by the way, Nile are Death Metal yes but All That Remains are Metalcore, and a very good band at that.

Some of my favourite Death Metal bands are Death, Cryptopsy, Obituary and Decapitated I like a lot, anyone else fans of Death Metal?

Sometimes I like Death Metal. It can be good, but sometimes I want something a little more melodic.

Yeah idk who thought Slayer is Death Metal but they're definitely Thrash, or at least they were.

I personally can't stand growling vocals at all. And the sad thing is, when you tell people that you listen to Metal, they automatically think that you listen to Death Metal and say "how can you understand the words with all the growling" and "that's not real music" and shit like that. The only form of Death Metal that I'd listen to is Melodic Death Metal, but that's about it. Give me good old Thrash or Groove Metal and I'm good.
