Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I'd just like to point out that Tom Araya himself is a practicing Catholic. That is all.

Yeah, one of my friends is a bit like that. He isn't really that angry but he really does like Metal. But he mainly listens to Rock, occasionally Metal.
However, I can be angry quite a bit and Metal does take away some of that anger, especially God Hates Us All.

I was a bit like that, I actually only really got into music and buying CDs around four years ago. Metal and Heavy music just seemed to click my with me.

I'll agree with that last bit, an angry man basically shouting into a mic really can get me motivated.

Yeah, I've read about that, Rez. Pretty fucking weird, especially since he is the lead singing of Slayer and he's written some of the best anti-religious songs, especially Bloodline.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
Seriously I can't imagine how those two have managed to stick together all this time without having a falling out of any kind.

Me too, they just seem so apart in their beliefs. One completely hates religion while the other practices a religion. Just very strange and weird, I was shocked when I found out that Tom was a Catholic.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
Wow, I never even knew that Tom is Catholic. Pretty ironic. But if anything, it just gives me a sense that I'm not the only one!

My best guess is that both see the lyrics from different perspectives. King probably takes the meaning behind the lyrics seriously while Tom just views it as part of their gimmick.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
I think you might be right, Rez, but I do think that they take most of their lyrics seriously. I also think that Tom writes differently about religion than Kerry does. Kerry basically hates everything about religion where as Tom just hates the way the Catholic Church is run almost like a business now, plus he writes about serial killers.

Re: Rock & Metal Discussion Thread.
Wasn't there rumours last year that Tom and Dave were going to start a Christian metal side project with Jason Truby?
