I find myself struggling to appreciate a lot of it, due to a number of reasons. Main one being I just find more modern Death-Metal bands to have more energy and aggression. From the top of my head the only old-school bands I really listen too are Death and Suffocation. I much prefer bands like Nile, Vital Remains and Cryptopsy.

I do have a passion for Progressive and tech bands in that field though. Opeth, Theory In Practice, Gojira, Necrophagist etc

Anyone in here like Atreyu? Apart from Right Side of the Bed, I only like the 'Lead Sails Paper Anchor' album from them - I find all their other songs awful.

Nope not a fan of them. I find it kinda funny that their drummer is a better singer than their lead vocalist.

Atreyu is SOOOO overrated, they have like 2 or maybe 3 songs that i really like/can listen.

Sorry I had too, I just cant stand Vital. Their very bland, no offence.

But to the middle paragraph: Well, I do see where your coming from, but theres many other old death metal bands just as "fast" and brutal as newer bands. Ever hear of Pestilence? Some of the greatest death metal ever has come from them.
But yeah another factor nowadays is the quality of the music production as you can feel the double bass and growls perfectly. Something that wasn't around years ago, unless you went to a live show. Talking about progressive and tech bands, you a fan of Cynic?
Other bands I listen to are Decapitated (RIP Vitek ), Zyklon, Disincarnate, Control Denied (RIP Chuck= Complete Legend), and last but certainly not least BENEATH THE FUCKING REMAINS! <-- Their the best band ive ever seen live. Amazing drummer.

Metallica is the greatest metal band of all time. That is not even an opinion, it is a fact. People get pissed off because it "sold out" or made one bad album. Just because non metal fans like Metallica does not give reason to hate it.

How is that a "Fact"? What Proves they are the greatest metal band of all time? Sales don't for sure, there is many better musicians in metal bands so nope for that too... So what is it? Sure they are a great band, but your getting ahead of yourself there saying the best metal band ever arnt you? Yes I like Metallica, but that comment is very....odd.

What makes any other band better than another band?? It all comes down to opinion, as far as I'm concerned.
