Funny thing is the "old stuff" is not old to me. It's what I grew up on.

A lot of my favourite artists had their best years (as far as mainstream popularity go) well before my time I would say. I'm going to see Def Leppard in August though, that'll be twice in the last 2 years that I've seen them live .

But if you look at my ipod you'll find a whole range of old stuff, most notably Van Halen, Def Leppard and AC/DC. Honourable mention to The Who, Foreigner and Journey.

I saw Def Leppard back in 1992 on the Adrenalize tour. It was "in the round" as they call it. They were great back then. We don't get a lot of acts coming to Austalia. Def Leppard have toured with Journey and Whitesnake over the last 12 months, that would have been awesome.

Yeah it's Billy Idol and Def Leppard this time in August. Last summer I saw them perform as part of a weekend concert series also headlined by Aerosmith, Toby Keith, Nickelback and Hedley. I only saw Def Leppard as part of that but I really wanted weekend passes . The line-up for this year has already been announced too, not as good as last year.

Billy Idol would be cool to see, as long as he has Steve Stevens playing with him on guitar.

Yeah I'm not sure, it says also featuring Billy Idol so I assume his band will be there, maybe not. I haven't heard much of him lately. Him being announced as the first act kinda surprised me to be honest.

We get shit support acts here. By law there has to be an Australian support act, but sometimes the touring act brings another act with them.
When I saw Guns'n'Roses in 1992 there were 2 Australian bands - Pearls & Swine and Rose Tattoo, then Skid Row and GnR. Even when GnR toured last year, Rose Tattoo were again the support act, followed by Sebastian Bach then GnR.
Ozzy had Sevendust as his support.

Best support act I have seen was a band called Vanishing Point who opened for Iron Maiden earlier this year. They were an awesome band. As it turns out the singer in my brother's old band is good friends with them. Apparently they are trying to secure the opening spot for Joe Satriani's up-coming tour.

I've posted this before - Vanishing Point - Surrender

I've done alright with opening acts as far as big names go, not really stuff I like but yeah. I've seen My Chemical Romance and Coheed & Cambria for Green Day and Linkin Park and some decent to good local and Canadian bands for other shows. On new years eve last year I saw Dennis DeYoung (former Styx front man) in Niagara Falls and that was supported by Loverboy and Honeymoon Suite so that was alright too. Plus way way way back I saw Pat Benatar w/ REO Speedwagon, and Fleetwood Mac. Pretty classic line-up there and I was far too young to realize that ha ha.

Nice line-ups there. I would have loved to have been in the US in teh late 80's and seen some acts then. I can't recall exact line-ups but you'd have bands like Warrant and White Lion supporting Bon Jovi and Van Halen. Shit, even Metallica opened for The Rolling Stones a few years back in San Francisco.

Not sure if anyone here has saw this, I just found it today. Kinda gives you an idea of what sound their new album will have. They're not "back" yet, in my opinion.
