Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
I was giving 'Black On Both Sides' a re listen this morning, what a great album. I remember I actually had to go to America, as I just couldn't find a copy of it in the UK for some strange reason, anyone know why that is? Anyway I wasn't really a massive Mos Def fan before I listened to it, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's yet to give the guy a proper listen.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
That's such a great album. So many tracks I can listen to and relisten to at almost anytime of the day. Classic tracks on there...
Such as: Do It Now, Brooklyn, Love, Mr. *****, Got, Fear Not Of Men, New World Water...
Damn, if I keep going, I'll name the whole album.

You's a genius. Sage is a great rapper. He gets tarred with the underground brush a lot but he displays more intelligence and wit than 98% of the rap game. This cat knows.
Peep him on youtube ripping the piss out of the stupidity of 'Simon Says'.
And Mos Def gets love from the underground for, what? Saying 'cracker' every few lines? Remaking 'Takeover' a hundred times worse? Please. Mos= The very definition of overrated. Underground heads flock to this guy like he's something special when the very mainstream rappers they shit on could take him.
A lot of people diss Sage, and lump him in with the 'alternative rap' *shudder* like Atmosphere and Anticon, but the man is actually a genius. Get a listen to stuff like 'Damage' and 'Runaways', off his myspace. The last one= emotional stuff.
Clipse is gonna be big. If someone releases it.

Hip-Hop is a culture and form of ground breaking music and self expression with elements that consisted of the elements of graffiti art, DJing, MCing, and breaking. Today Hip-Hop is considered to be dead in the mainstream because so-called mainstream Hip-Hop doesn't have the elements of hip-hop and have no meaning.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
Haha. No pun intended.
Seriously, what sets this jobber apart from any other rapper?

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
He has raw flow without needing to send deep, intense messages to people to touch them. And when Mos does send those messages that are emotional, he can bring it. Nothing sets apart anything from any rapper... it's how you analyze and interpret their music which dictates weither you like them or not.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
Haha. Yeah, fair play, it's a matter of opinion. But I'm not buying it. IMO, he's overrated.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
He's still better than TI and the rest of the 'dirty south' and most modern day guys in the game....

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
I still don't see how anyone who loves hip hop can't love Mos Def. He speaks a lot of untold truths, now you don't have to agree with everything he says but he's very aware of what is going on in the world. Plus he can change up his flow at any given time, with out sounding like he's trying
