Music industry insiders are telling us that Kanye West’s new album, released on Tuesday, is on its way to selling 700,000 copies.
50 Cent’s new record is only projected to move about 500,000 units.
There is even talk that Kenney Chesney’s new album, also released this week, will do better than Fiddy too.

I'll believe it when I see it but I'll laugh if it happens.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
They are actually pretty accurate with there predictions. I wouldn't be surprised if they came true.
Here's a quote from hiphopdx about Nas's new album......
Quote:
Nas shook things up by claiming Hip-Hop is Dead with his last album. Now, he's ready for the next release.
"I was on the Virgin Islands on New Year's Day, I got the news I had another #1 album. I think I made some heads turn. I did my thing: no radio. Not much radio spins. Now I wanna have fun with the radio. I'll still try to reach for a higher ground and come sometime in December," he told MTV.
"I'm really into [the idea of having] a summer album...But they say the fourth quarter is for big dogs. I been doing the fourth quarter for years, so I guess I'm at home in the fourth."
He noted that he is halfway done with the project and may still work with Will.i.am, DJ Premier and others. For now, he's holding off on all of the details.
He also spoke on Rock the Bells.
"That was amazing...I wasn't on all the dates. It's a great tour. We had 40,000 people in San Francisco alone. Wu-Tang were incredible. I'm thinking about doing the next one and taking it global. I'm thinking about jumping in with [the promoters] and taking it all the way global."
Aside from his next album on Def Jam, Sony is still slated to release a Greatest Hits compilation of Nas tracks including a couple of new Nas tracks.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
It'll be interesting to see what will happen if Kanye does infact outsell 50. I honestly didn't even think it would be a close race, due to all of the young teens buying into 50's bullshit. Kanye's album is amazing, and should by all rights debut ahead of 50.
Edit - I found a video of Kanye backstage throwing his hissyfit at the VMA's. At first it's a tad dark and hard to see, but near the end you do see that it's Kanye. He has some interesting words. I don't know if it's been posted yet or not, so if it has I apologize. http://www.break.com/index/kanye-wes...-meltdown.html

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
To switch topics a bit, I bought the new 40 Cal album "Broken Safety 2" today. The production on it is pretty nice, but once again 40 really didn't show off his ability to write a good song on the album. On mixtapes 40 is nice with the punches, but on albums he falls off a bit, decent album though, just not as good as I thought it could have been.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
So does that mean Nas will have an album out soon
And when do the figures come back as to who won.

Re: My Random Thoughts On Hip-Hop
I'd mark so much if Kanye beat 50 in the sales.
