Japan unique releases & imports, anyone have any of these, they're so good.

I've got a few Japan albums/releases, simply because they're often so good, have loads of bonus's, are often packaged way better than the releases that are all over the rest of the world, and they are just really unique, I've had the 3" CD snap packs, where you can snap up the discs to create a small cover (I never do, I keep them complete), however, I'm sure some people here have seen these and got a few, if you haven't, search up some Japan releases of your favourite artists.

This morning, I got a Japanese copy of the Kris Kross album 'Da Bomb', which is quite unique, it has an OBI with it (the strip at the side of the disc), and a completely different cover to the original version, also, because the first track has the line 'I drop bombs like Hiroshima', they've taken this line out for obvious reasons.

The Japan cover of the album.

This is the original cover everywhere else of this album :

Also, one artist that has some really great Japan releases are EYC, they've even had exclusive albums released, such as remix albums that are exclusive and out in Japan only also, as well as huge packages of their albums that come in box sets, have huge booklets, completely different artwork, unique cases, boxes, holders etc... such as the following :

This here, if you see where the photo of the guys is, that's actually the booklet underneath and the box has a square cut there, so when the book is inside, it creates part of the cover, it has a whole ton of extra tracks, the box opens out to a really thick booklet with all these new photo's, completely jam packed and a complete different design, I cant find a picture of this with all the contents, but this is the cover :

The original art of this album is as follows, but is just a regular CD with a normal booklet and less tracks :

Plus, like I say, many artists have all these Japan Only complete exclusive remix albums released such as 'EYC-Ya' and 'The Express Remixes' and 'Best Remixes' that have been packaged and released for Japan only.

You can also get 3" snap packs of tons of artists, such as these here :

Those are incredibly unique, as well as often they will do regular versions of the Japanese albums, with obi's (the strips at the side of the CD), and bonus tracks like these :

And also, CD singles too, they often do Japan editions in small quantities I believe, which usually have the original artwork of the release, with an OBI, such as :

They're so unique, honestly, tons of artists have so many great releases like this from Japan, so search up your favourite artists on eBay or something, you'll find some really great releases and unique items, they're so good

Anyone else got any unique Japan releases or albums and issues of releases?

Don't worry Heff, we can still have a nice Thanksgiving. I bought us a nice big vegetarian turkey. It'll be delicious!

Yeah, is the artwork all different also, or is it just a regular one with an OBI etc...

My favourite type of music is actually old school Hip Hop and RnB, East Coast, West Coast stuff, however music is subjective, people may find the Foo Fighters music hideous ... but that doesn't mean that it is.

Japan do seem to get bonus tracks on some albums that we in the UK don't get. More recently Noel Gallagher's HFB album got bonus tunes in Japan that were not on the UK issue.

I find it annoying tbh but I guess it's a big market over there too and it's the companies way of trying to capitalise on that.

Yeah, I think it's because in Japan, they don't have regular singles released like we do here, they do, cause some of them get released there in a Japan edition, but they're not like major releases or anything, and most of the singles we get with the remixes, don't get released there, just the odd one's, so they often package and release remix albums, with B-Sides and bonus tracks exclusive to Japan, hence why I think they have them, but yeah, they have some really unique things, the packages on them are amazing, where as we'll just get the regular CD, they'll have CD's with OBI's, snap packs, boxes that blend together to make a cover, huge booklets and things, they're just really unique

But yeah, often there are tracks that aren't even released here as a B-Side or anything, that they do often get, which is also quite unique to them

I would love to have those, but they are so expensive, that for that price I could buy 4 or 5 normal albums. I'm not even kidding.

I accept rep.

I know, some of them are pretty mad priced, but it's cause of the rarity and uniqueness of them I guess, that said, if you browse on eBay, and search worldwide, sometimes you find the odd bargain of them on there, really cheap, so it is a case of keeping an eye out really sometimes if you want something :0

yeh i know, i was just messing, i don't suppose many people have cannibal corpse albums for instance...

the hip hop from the 80's ain't too bad, the more modern it has got the worse it has got.

i like the freedom of speech track form the first body count album, i love that album

Ah yeah, modern day hip hop is just terrible, i'm supposed to like it but I don't, it's just got no 'oomph' to it and is really weak, weak snappy snares and that's about it with droney or overly tuned auto tuned voices, it's terrible.

Now play some old school west coast or east coast stuff and it blows it out of the water.

i think hip hop, when it started, was completely new and un commercial. Now im sure i will be corrected here by someone but all the newer stuff is really chart friendly, no new ground being covered.

and how do producers now have record deals and are considered recording artists? play an instrument or write something original you lazy bums!
