My top 100 songs of all time, do you agree with any part of my list at all? lol

Very difficult list to complete, it's MY favourite, so I can't be wrong. What do you think of my list? I was looking at other lists, namely Rolling Stones and thought there list was based on the 65 retired white man. Barely any black artists and all take a back seat to guys like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Elvis, etc. So I made a point of putting Michael Jackson's Billie Jean number one because it's the song I've listened to the most on my iPhone and my god what a masterpiece it is too.

Overall I had,

The Beatles - 7
Michael Jackson - 6
Elvis Presley - 3
Bruce Springsteen - 3
Stevie Wonder - 3
Elton John - 3
Queen - 3

I looked online and my inclusions were in line with where these artists are placed historically. MJ/Beatles/Elvis seem to be the most commercially successful. Beatles/MJ seem to be the most recognised, celebrated and rewarded artists. Tricky list, but I'm glad I have all these songs on my iPhone, some great songs here. Will most likely have completely missed a few, don't stress about their positions, it's hard remembering them to begin with, let alone weigh up whether track 32# is better than track 47# lol. Some genres I haven't listened too intensely, it's impossible for anyone too right? So I'm sure they'll be some omissions.

I don't think i'd ever attempt something like this even though it's an exciting project. I did plenty of top 100 lists by genres and time periods but encompassing everything I love into a single list would take so much time to whip up.

...

Kudos on the effort. There's a handful of tracks on your list that I enjoy.

There are no erroneously bad songs on the list but the list seems narrow in scope towards the established cannon of pop music particularly the 60-80s. Like I guess if I loved The Beatles for example I would want to branch out to the artists who inspired them or future artists who's work they influenced.

I could never whittle down a list to only 100, it would take the rest of my life!

Re: My top 100 songs of all time, do you agree with any part of my list at all? lol

I can easily drum up a Top 10:
1 November Rain-Guns & Roses
2 The Times They Are A-Changin-Bob Dylan
3 Back In Black-AC/DC
4 All Along The Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix
5 Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay-Otis Redding
6 My Way-Frank Sinatra
7 Stand By Me-Ben E King
8 I Can't Get No Satisfaction-Rolling Stones
9 Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana
10 I Can't Help Falling In Love With You-Elvis Presley

but a Top 100 would take some doing. There's just too many songs and artists that I like.

92. Santana - Black Magic Woman
94. Kanye West - Gold Digger
95. Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
99. Jay Z - 99 Problems

Overall I really like the list. A lot of songs that I either enjoy, or I know the song is decent.

I would add:
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir (and about a dozen other LZ songs)
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
Eagles - Witchy Woman
Simon and Garfunkel - Sound of Silence
Nirvana - Dumb
The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
Eminem - Without Me
Bad Religion - Infected
Butthole Surfers - Pepper
Beck - Loser

Obviously people's taste in music is not going to be exactly the same. But the list covered a lot of songs I would have gone with. Thumbs up!

Really surprised that you haven't got what a wonderful world, stand by me or perfect day in there based on a lot of the other songs you have picked. Also no Smiths? Got to be a law against that somewhere.

Re: My top 100 songs of all time, do you agree with any part of my list at all? lol

I'm not a MJ fan so I definitely wouldn't have him at the top spot, but he may have made my top 20, although not with Billie Jean (I'd put Thriller in it's place) I feel you did a good job of covering many pop/rock genre classics. My list would have a few country songs as well. Stairway or Bohemian Rhapsody would be my numero uno depending on my mood that day.

"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you,
for this is the Law and the Prophets" (Matt. 7:12).

Props on the effort, I can't even pick the best out of two good songs so to list them like that mustve been a bitch.
