Eurovision 2015

So the contest is next week. Anybody here watching it? Who are your favorites this year?

Here is the Lithuania's song this year:

Tbhayley, I think it's the best song we've had since 2006. Well, you know, this one:

^ Still the best think my country has ever done in the contest.

I accept rep.

I'll laugh if Australia wins.

Re: Eurovision 2015

As far as I know, Eurovision is only for members of EBU (European Broadcasting Union), which does not include Australia. So why is it even participating. And isn't it just a one off? Like, what if they actually win (I really doubt it, but it's always a possibility)? Will the contest actually take place in Australia? And will they compete again? Then other non-European countries will want to do that too and eventually it will be a Worldvision.

I accept rep.

Re: Eurovision 2015

The EBU confirmed that IF Australia win, they would be invited back in 2016 (if they win again in 2016 they don't come back).

With regards to hosting they said it will remain in Europe, in a host city of Australia's choice, hope this helps

From my understanding, Australia was invited as a once-off for Eurovision's 60th anniversary. I believe it is due to the event having such a huge following down here - people gather round their tv sets every year to either admire or mock what they feel is wacky European kitsch.

I agree that the move to include Australia in a Euro-centric song contrast is alittle odd. Nevertheless, I think it's a great decision, as it acknowledges the significant Aussie fanbase and our vibrant multicultural society, and cements the Eurovision as one big crazy party that nobody takes too seriously.
