The Beastie Boys - WF's vibes on the awesomeness!

Ok, so although I'm very late in regards to these guys and pretty new also, I'm absolutely loving these guys, these are the reason Eminem got into rap (He states their 'Licence To Ill' album is one of the few albums he knows throughout word for word), when MCA (God bless his soul) passed recently the amount of tributes they had were unreal, from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Kid Rock, the lot ... The Beastie Boys are also the reason LL Cool J got his break!

I was watching this performance here with Diddy, Q-Tip and Fabolus all honouring them and then The Beastie Boys come out at the end and perform and you can completely see the difference in regards to these guys and how good they are, I got goosebumps when they hit the stage.

Some of my favourite Beastie Boys tunes at the moment :

So What'cha Want - "Let it flow like a mud slide and when I get on I like to ride and glide"

Body Movin' - "Putting bodies in motion cause I got the notion, like Roy Cromier with the coconut lotion"

Sure Shot - "Strictly hand held is the style I go, never rock a mic with the pantyhose"

Intergalactic - "I like my sugar with coffee and cream"

Ch-Check It Out - "Hey baby bubba now what the deal, I didn't know you go for that mass appeal"

There are loads ... but those are a few I wanted to share, however what are your favourite Beastie Boys tunes????

Also, just to add, want to pay some respects to MCA who passed away in 2012, it's mad watching his video here when he announced that he had cancer and to think that two years after he's no longer with us, may his soul RIP, he's up there rapping with the legends while Michael is moonwalking away I am sure, they seem like such lovely guys also.

Eminem also talking about how The Beastie Boys basically got him into rap.

7:35 and 10:55, Eminem talks with passion here.

And a couple of tributes from Kid Rock and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

All these guys know the words to their songs also, which also goes to show just what impact these guys made, I know me personally I was late in regards to getting into The Beastie Boys, simply cause I was real young during their time but these guys were going for over 30 years and continued to have successful albums on the Billboard chart and charts worldwide, it's kinda underrated in regards to how big they were and I'm only just seeing this now.

So what are your thoughts here and which are your favourite Beastie Boys tracks and performances (share some in the thread), I'm kinda wondering how many other fans of The Beastie Boys are here on WF?

The guys were absolutely awesome and so, so good!!!!

Re: The Beastie Boys - WF's vibes on the awesomeness!

Fucking love the Beasties as you can see by my avatar. When I started getting into golden age hip-hop back in 07-08 when I was around 13, I ignored them because I figured they are some shitty white guys who have no business rapping. Then I actually listened to them and how wrong I was...

Paul's Boutique is an absolute masterpiece and top 10 hip-hop album. I'm saying that as a bigger fan of more traditional hip-hop rather than the eclectic style they used. It was pretty sad to hear about MCA's death because their latest album from 2011 showed that they still have it heading into their 50s.

Instead of plugging their usual popular stuff ("So Watcha Want" is also posted already), I'll post some of the underrated classics.

Spoiler for classics:

^ This song always got me high on life.

Am I to understand that you have never heard of The Beastie Boys until recently?

The fuck, yo? Where the fuck have you been?

This thread just makes me sad because MCA died.

*sigh*

Yeah, Paul's Boutique is beauty! I'm actually listening to the 'Check Your Head' album a lot at the moment, I completely agree about the new material too, soon as you hear the track 'Make Some Noise' you just know that they're just completely on form!

I'm absolutely massive on these guys, I've had them on constantly for ages now and just can't get enough of them, would love to have seen them live but the fact their music is out there is a way to keep their legacy alive regardless ... the same way it is with MJ, Biggie, Pac, Kris Kross, Michael Jackson etc.. which I also love, the Beastie Boys are just something else ... proper loving these guys right now!!

Of course I haven't just heard of them, I've known of them for years, I just never really sat and listened to them and their commercial tracks I never overly took much notice of, I remember quite liking 'Intergalactic' but even then it wasn't something I 'overly' took a lot of notice of, it's only recently that I decided to get their whole discography and give it a proper listen, I've always loved this genre but never really listened to The Beastie's properly and I absolutely love them! I also bought the 'Video Anthology' DVD too which is awesome!

And yeah, it's an absolute shame in regards to MCA, I was watching a new interview with Mike D too from some Australian news company and every interview I've watched of them they just come across as really nice, down to earth guys too, they don't even highly rank themselves when the truth be told ... they should!

Loving these responses too ... hope their are more to come from here too, it does seem that for some reason wrestling fans have a preferred genre (not to stereotype of course) ... but yeah, it's interesting to see how many other Beastie fans are on here, the guys are ace!!!!!!

You can so tell when MCA comes onto the tracks too, his voice is a little more distinctive than Ad-Rock's and Mike D's, but they're all equally beauty I think either way!!!

Speaking of Beastie Boys DVD's, this is the one that I've recently bought :

They need to release a complete discography one as this was from 2000, would love them to release an updated video anthology.
