I actually have a proper list written down in a book, have near 300 albums. So yeah, I collect and listen often.

I'll tell you I have ALL the studio albums of the following artists.

The Beatles (American releases included)
Taylor Swift
Pink Floyd (Discovery boxset remasters)
Led Zeppelin
Bruce Springsteen
Lana Del Rey
Oasis
Blink 182
Slipknot
Lights
Ellie Goulding
Misfits
Kanye West
Kid Cudi
Outkast
Arcade Fire
John Lennon
Avenged Sevenfold

I've got plenty of Paul McCartney albums, probably around 15 or so. I want to complete his discography, but some of his stuff is hard to find so I have to wait for remasters. I've got three George Harrison albums, and even a Ringo's debut.

And then I've got bunch of albums from Bob Dylan, Kiss, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Trivium, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Lady Gaga, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, Pretty Reckless, BFMV, 30STM, Justin Timberlake David Bowie etc. Basically got shit from all genres.

First album I bought was Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory.

I have around 500 albums so I ain't writing down shit! Physical copies are soooo much better than digital.

In fact, if I had the money I'd probably re-purchase everything I own on vinyl.

Stopped buying albums after I got my CD cases stolen twice. First case was a 25 CD case and the second time, it was 40. All originals. Almost all my favorite physical CDs are gone. I can't believe people break in cars for these.

I'm only buying vinyls now. I have about 30.

My latest purchase is Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow.

My vinyl collection is past the 500 mark now, I believe. If anyone cares, here's a list with tapes & other bits & Bob's

http://www.recordnerd.com/lists/kenny_craig

Its mostly pretty obscure stuff, so be warned

I have at least the same amount again in cds but I only buy them if they're cheaper than a download, these days

If I had no self control I could spend a fortune on records

To answer questions in the OP -

I started buying tapes/CDs in late 94/early 95 (I don't remember exactly, I was like 8), first albums I bought were Green Day - 'Dookie' and The Offspring - 'Smash'

I started buying vinyl about 12 or 13 years ago. I think the first albums I bought were some Shellac records, or maybe Black Flag/Dead Kennedy 7"s.

The last album I bought was on Sunday, a split LP between UK bands Pariso and Svalbard, and it's just brilliant.

Oh man I have 934 CD's or at least that was the number I had the last time a count them. For my parents it was a waste of money

~ My first CD was Deftones - Around the Fur.
~ The last album I bought was Carnifex - Die Without Hope.
~ I started when I was like 8 years old.

Some of the bands/Singer I have the full discography of:

The Beatles
Nirvana
Pantera
Thin Lizzy
AILD
Korn
Deftones
Carnifex
Shadows Fall
Depeche Mode
Led Zeppelin
Tool
Def Leppard
Radiohead
Bob Dylan

I always dreamed with a room with my vinyl collection and my guitars right there just to play and listen all the music. Someday
