....

Just heard two new songs, one from an album coming out in 3 days by "Got A Girl", and the other from "TEEN" that i'm plowing through this coming week.

Got A Girl - I Love You But I Must Drive Off I cannot wait for this. It's a side project from Mary Elizabeth Winstead (of all people) & Dan the Automator

June 11th Edit: Pushed back to a late July release. Fuuuuuck.

Spoiler for :

TEEN- The Way and Color The more I listen to the single, the more I anticipate giving this a spin. Seems like a mix of Experimental Pop and R&B.

June 11th Edit: Interesting album. There's a handful songs I enjoyed on here, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to hear it unless you're running out of things to listen to. I do like the vocals on most of the tracks, just wasn't blown away by the overall production like I was hoping to. There's definite room to grow, and i'm sure that TEEN will eventually hit their stride.

Spoiler for :

Re: Midyear Album Highlights (2014)

Listened to the Brian Eno collabo w/ Karl Hyde (Underworld) called Someday World. It has it's moments, some of the tracks remind me of pre-Violator Depeche Mode with the vocals and synths used. It has a very throwback quality to it, and it's not the type of thing that I generally associate Eno with, but it's an album that will be enjoyed by those who appreciate mid 80's synthpop.

Also The Antlers - Familiars. Decent little Indie Pop number with traces of Folk. Only issue I had was the repetition of most songs when listened in succession, but individually they're pleasant to listen to.

Re: Midyear Album Highlights (2014)

I second the new Hold Steady. Craig Finn is such a great songwriter. I'm going to see them next month can't wait.

New Black Keys is pretty good after a couple listens. Bought the new Jack White and after one listen I dig it.
