Say what you will about the game but the music was fantastic, this and boss battle music are my favorite.

Admit this is a nostalgia vote but it's still a damn good theme.

Anyone who played Vanilla WoW will have heard this music a lot (you have been disconnected from server) luckily it was pretty awesome.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has an incredible soundtrack composed entirely by Amon Tobin if you're into dark & fierce electronic music. I was also playing this small PC indie title not too long ago called Botanicula, the music in-game was flat out stunning.

Wipeout 2097 and Little Big Planet 2 are probably my favorite soundtracks to make use of compiled licenced music.

There's a ton of games that nail atmosphere with great orchestral pieces, but my memory is killing me right now (seldomly play / think about video games these days).

@ the lack of kudos for Sonic the Hedgehog.

The entire franchise is pretty impeccable, with the Sonic R and Sonic Heroes soundtracks being my favorites. Even the Gameboy releases are pretty dope.

Spoiler for sploosh:

The Tekken series also has some pretty badass tracks. Tekken 4 and Dark Resurrection were great in particular.
