Re: Psychedelic Music

This thread is gold!! As a avid music listener I love discovering original and good music to share with my friends. Most of these songs in this thread are more ROCK related songs, but I tend to listen to and get influenced by alot of psychedelic HIP HOP songs. I admit that the roots of psychedelic music didn't come from hip hop, but it certainly opened me up to the music that's posted here, which I believe is a level above the music I'm about to post. I doubt anybody here really listens to psychedelic hip hop, but I'll try to put some of you on it lol..

Jacco Gardner - Hypnophobia (2015)

My album of the year for far that super-exceeded my every expectations for a follow up to 2013's Cabinet of Curiousities. Anyone into Tame Impala shouldn't even hesitate to spin this psych masterpiece.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've sampled some of the other songs in this thread and this album sounds worth a listen!

5/10/2015 Edit = dead link.

You're welcome. ^ This is the first single if you're interested in the album, but trust me when I say that it doesn't even scratch the surface of Hypnophobia's eclecticity. Deso and I have been hyped for it all year and i'm glad it delivered.

Re: Psychedelic Music

Recently I have watched Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is a song written by John Lennon in 1967, and recorded by The Beatles for their album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

The song has a complex arrangement typical of later Lennon-McCartney compositions; much of the song is in triple metre or 3/4 time, except in the chorus, where it switches to 4/4 time.

Re: Psychedelic Music

I'm ashamed to admit I've not delved too deeply into psychedelic music. I'm a folk guy, so most of my experience with psychedelic music comes from the late 60s and early 70s where the two genres frequently overlapped. The two big ones from that era for me are Country Joe and the Fish and Jefferson Airplane. I can't put enough emphasis on how much I love Country Joe McDonald.

A few of my favorites from Country Joe and the Fish:

Re: Psychedelic Music

Listened to Tame Impala and really liked Innerspeaker. Listened to bits of Lonerism and thought what I herd so far was great too.

As far as the genre goes I like the Pink Floyd and Beatles stuff, but that's about all I've touched in psychedelic rock.
