you have to put things into context and the only way dan marino was a vigilante kill was if maverick had that role. there's some flavor inconsistency, which was probably a slip of the mind.

serial killer is the knife which is classic mafia flavor for the role.

i had myself relating the skull to the raiders or bucs, which would be losers in my mind, but i got over it when the obvious was slapping me in my face.
