And I still dislike this entire Dan wagon and refuse to vote for him for Mayor, simply since it seems to be a convinient thing to do.

How is it not a good idea? We have no idea what said power gets the person, so if someone has volunteered to get the role, let them have it IMO.
You just seem cut that you aren't the one being looked at for the spot.
The appealing to emotion also sets off scum alarm bells.
