Re: Joey Ryan's Promo Ability

You know, sometimes he can be entertaining and at other times he overdoes his 'acting'. He was sort of straddling that line between fun and annoying last night. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm glad to see him getting tv time - I am notoriously fond of wrestlers who embrace overdone, comedic gimmicky-ness so if I came across a bit too negative on this, please accept my apologement.

One great thing in Joey's favour is that he can get the audience reaction he's looking for and proved that even the much-maligned IZ crowd will boo or cheer enthusiastically when they know how they're supposed to react.

Re: Joey Ryan's Promo Ability

I didn't see anything terribly wrong with his promo. Give him a chance to at least get started. He'll be one of the top heels pretty soon.

Re: Joey Ryan's Promo Ability

They should have waited for Kevin Steen's ROH contract to get over for this storyline and the whole Gutcheck thing. He would have been perfect for this storyline. I could picture Taz saying no because he is "fat, lazy and completely out-of-shape. And you think you're a lot better than you actually are." and then Steen making a bunch of YouTube promos blasting TNA and Gutcheck and going to various Indy promos and making fun of TNA and then doing various interviews and doing the same. Basically everything that Joey Ryan did, but it would have been more effective based on Kevin Steen being a bigger Indy star and his whole shtick already being that he is a rebellious anti-hero.

Re: Joey Ryan's Promo Ability

I didn't think he did a bad job on Impact tbh. I'm not expecting him to be perfect, and he got the job done regardless.

The Snow/Ryan segment this week was my favorite. I think he did fine but it does seem he was a bit nervous out there.
