Post anything related to TNA DVDs here. Questions, match ratings, suggestions, news, ect... are all welcomed.

Couple of questions to start things off (since the other threads were closed)

BGLWrestlingGod: Should I get Turning Point 05?

Jack Evans 197: Should I get Destination X 07?

liljayl23: Best TNA PPVs to buy on DVD?

Top 10 TNA PPV's(Not sure of the exact order)

Turning Point 04
No Surrender 05
BFG 05
Genesis 05
Turning Point 05
Lockdown 06
BFG 06
Sacrifice 07
No Surrender 07
BFG 07

Final Resolution 05 is probably 11, but overall as a show it's not quite as good these 2.(But it does have 2 incredible matches.)

Also I've heard good things about AA0 06 but never seen it.

Those sound like very good releases. I've already got ideas in my head of what they could put on each one. The Knockout DVD could be very cool. The last one was all about Bikini shoots and stuff, but now we obviously have a ton of matches to work with (but I would be opposed to more bikini shoots either. Any day where I see Gail Kim, Christy, and Traci in skimpy outfits is a good day)

Best of the Bloodiest Brawls could be fun as well. Lots of stuff to work with for this release.

Best of Angle, as we've already said, could be great.

And Ultimate Matches set could be really cool. I remember WWF releasing "Best of Unusual Matches" and having Ladder Matches, and Blindfold Matches, and the Jailhouse Match between Bossman & Mountie, and I really loved it back then, but TNA has some great gimmick matches, so this could be a really fun DVD.

I'll probably pickup the Bloodiest Brawls and Ultimate Matches depending on the match listings.

The Angle DVD will probably be a pass since I own most of the stuff that will be on there, but I guess we'll see. Same thing with the knockouts DVD, depends on how it's formatted and how many matches are on there.

But the 1st 2 will be must buys for me as long as there isn't too much stuff I already have.(The Harris/Storm TDM should definitely be on there and I don't have that on DVD yet)

#943 ·
I'm diggin that Angle cover art. Those should all be great releases, well from a wrestling standpoint 3 of them should be. I wonder if TNA will put stuff from their full 6 year history on the ultimate matches DVD or just more recent stuff...

#944 ·
^I was thinking the same thing for the Ultimate Matches set, I'd like to see the 1st KOTM from 04 and the first cage match between XXX/AMW on there. Maybe even the Naturals/AMW Six Sides Of steel match as well, I believe the first one.

Definitely should be some matches from 02-04 on that set. And for the Brawls DVD I'm guessing it will cover from the beginning of 06 up until the present, since the last covered up to Turning Point 05 and the 1st BWM.

#948 ·
They need to put the first KOTM match on the Ultimate Matches DVD. It's never been released on a DVD, and it's the only one of those matches that hasn't seen a DVD release. I'd also like to see Ultimate Xs 3-5 placed on there, as they've never been on a DVD either.

But that's the completest in me, as I'd like to see all of those specialty matches on DVD somewhere.

#949 ·
It would be neat if TNA went back into their acrhives and pulled out old KOTM & UX matches for that release as there are alot of those matches that haven't been released on DVD like the 1st KOTM & Ultimate X4 with AJ, Bentley, & Kaz. But I think they will stick largely with recent matches.

Anybody think The Fishmarket Streetfight will make the cut? LOL.

I just rewatched the AMW/XXX Six Sides Of Steel and have decided it is undoubtedly a 5* match for me. I had wavered between ****3/4 and *****, but is it just so awesome in every way that I cannot deny it that rating.

Storytelling, Psychology, Drama, Brutality, Spots, etc. That match just has it all, I know about Unbreakable and Styles/Daniels Iroman I(which are both also 5* IMO) but for my money this is my favorite match in TNA history.

I'm going to have a go at some match guesses for the upcoming DVDs, starting off with best of the Bloodiest Brawls 2, (or 3).

Abyss vs Rhino-Falls Count Anywhere, Against All Odds 2006
Christian Cage vs Abyss-Six Sides of Steel for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Lockdown 2006
Team 3D vs The James Gang-Bingo Hall Brawl, Slammiversary 2006
Samoa Joe vs Abyss vs Raven vs Brother Runt-Monster's Ball, Bound for Glory 2006
Christian Cage vs Rhino-8 Mile Street Fight, Bound for Glory 2006
Christian Cage vs Rhino-Barbed Wire Six Sides of Steel, Impact 2006
AJ Styles vs Rhino-Last Man Standing, Final Resolution 2007
Sting vs Abyss-Prison Yard Match, Against All Odds 2007
Sting vs Abyss-Last Rites Match, Destination X 2007
LAX vs Team 3D-Electrified Six Sides of Steel for the NWA World Tag team Championship, Lockdown 2007
Chris Harris vs James Storm-Texas Death Match, Sacrifice 2007
Abyss vs Tomko-No DQ, Slammiversary 2007
Abyss, Sting & Andrew Martin vs Christian Cage, AJ Styles & Tomko-Doomsday Chamer of Blood, Hard Justice 2007
Abyss vs Raven vs Rhino vs Black Reign-Monster's Ball, Bound for Glory 2007
Abyss vs Black Reign-Shop of Horrors Match, Genesis 2007
Abyss & Raven vs Rellik & Black reign-Match of 10,000 Tacks, Turning Point 2007
Abyss vs Judas Mesias-Barbed Wire Massacre 2, Against All Odds 2008

I can't really see there being more than 10 of those matches on this DVD, I'd hope for a two disc set, but TNA seems to have grown a little tired of them. I'll check the potential matches for the Kurt Angle DVD and Ultimate Matches DVD later.

If you could narrow that down to 10 matches, what would you peeps pick?

LAX vs Team 3D-Electrified Six Sides of Steel for the NWA World Tag team Championship, Lockdown 2007
Abyss, Sting & Andrew Martin vs Christian Cage, AJ Styles & Tomko-Doomsday Chamber of Blood, Hard Justice 2007
Abyss vs Raven vs Rhino vs Black Reign-Monster's Ball, Bound for Glory 2007
Abyss vs Black Reign-Shop of Horrors Match, Genesis 2007
Abyss & Raven vs Rellik & Black reign-Match of 10,000 Tacks, Turning Point 2007
I hated these matches so I hope they don't make the DVD.

^^^

1. Abyss vs Rhino-Falls Count Anywhere, Against All Odds 2006

2. Christian Cage vs Rhino-Barbed Wire Six Sides of Steel, Impact 2006

3. Sting vs Abyss-Prison Yard Match, Against All Odds 2007

4. Sting vs Abyss-Last Rites Match, Destination X 2007

5. Chris Harris vs James Storm-Texas Death Match, Sacrifice 2007

6. Chris Harris vs. James Storm - Impact 6/7/07 (I'd like to see it on there cause it was pretty damn great, but I doubt it will be)

7. Abyss vs Tomko-No DQ, Slammiversary 2007

8. Abyss vs Judas Mesias-Barbed Wire Massacre 2, Against All Odds 2008

That's what I'd like to see. That's clearly not gonna look anything like it though, considering I have 2 sets of matches with the same two people in them.

I remember Turning Point '05 was the first 3 hour TNA PPV I ordered. It was awesome. Obviously for the Joe/AJ and the barbwire massacre matches that everyone knows, but I think Rhino/Jarrett is pretty underrated for the most part. It was better than I expected.

Some stuff I found for the Best of the Bloodiest Brawls: Scars and Stitches DVD.
rohwrestling.com said:

Description:
This title is scheduled to be released on August 5th!!!

TNA Wrestling Home Video presents "The Best Of The Bloodiest Brawls: Scars and Stitches" featuring the most out-of-control barbaric and brutal matches in Total Nonstop Action. The DVD features bouts such as the Six Sides Of Steel, The Doomsday Chamber Of Blood, and the hellish Barbed Wire Massacre. TNA Superstars featured on this DVD include Samoa Joe Kurt Angle Sting Abyss Christian Cage AJ Styles Jeff Jarrett Rhino The Latin American Xchange and more!
If that's the actual cover art then that's pretty shitty IMO. I'm curious to what six sides of steel will be on it and to what matches Jarrett and LAX would be in...

Unbreakable (2005)

1.) Diamond/Skipper/Young vs. 3LK - *
Luckily they kept it short...

2.) Strong vs Aries - ***3/4
Absolutely loved this match! Shame it wasn't given enough time. Some ROH chants started up as these 2 delivered one hell of match.

3.) Apollo/Hoyt vs. Monty/Kip James - **1/4
Surprised I didn't completely hate this match, but average at best really.

4.)Petey vs Sabin - ***1/4
Sabin was actually supposed to face Shocker here but booking issues kept him from showing, a great replacement in Petey I must say. Very solid X-division bout. Expected a bit more but it was good nonetheless.

5.) Sabu vs Abyss - ***1/4
Nice Hardcore battle as you would expect from these 2. Ecw chants throughout lol. The ending was out of this world! Sabu does his springboard off the chair, Abyss catches him mid air and Black hole slams the shit out of him into the tacks! Sickening to see Sabu's back after that. WOW.

6.) Hardy vs Roode - **1/4
Terribly disappointing match. This was Hardys first time back in 4 months so maybe that had something to do with it, but overall just a very lackluster performance.

7.) 4-way Elim for the Tag titles - Naturals/AMW/Team Canada/Shelly - **3/4

Waltman was supposed to be Shelly's partner but no-showed the event forcing Shelly to fend for himself. Standard stuff for the most part. Nothing to amazing but nothing too bad either.

8.) NWA world title - Raven's Rules - Raven vs Rhino - ***1/4
Very fun hardcore brawl and yet again more ECW chants rang out through the impact zone. Some sweet spots like Rhino getting powerbombed through a ladder and him goring a shopping cart. Good title match but they definitely made the right decision to not make this the ME.

9.) Triple threat for the X-division title - Joe/Daniels/Aj - *****
Ah yes. To give a little backstory. After WCW was bought out by Vince, I completely lost interest in wrestling and didn't watch a single match until early 2007 when I stumbled upon this classic. Got me watching again and haven't stopped since. Onto the match itself. What can you say that hasn't been said already. This is true perfection, the crowd is literally handing onto every emotional second as The 3 men are in the zone hitting all their amazing spots on cue. I've seen this a few times and all the spots still have the same effect as the first time I witnessed them. The action was nonstop awesomeness from the get go, they really poured everything they had for those 23 furious minutes. There are few matches that every wrestling fan should go out of there way to see and this is undoubtedly one of them.

Overall: Another amazing show, I'd probably put it slightly behind No Surrender and Sacrifice as the best I've seen from 05 so far.

Great Unbreakable review AJ. I haven't seen the whole PPV, only the main event. Actually py story is pretty much the same as yours. I had always watched WCW in mu young days. After their death, I stopped watching wrestling. Almost 2 years ago, I aksed a friend what was going on these days in the wrestling industry. He talked about TNA. In the beginning I wasn't interested, but he kept asking me to see the unbreakable 3-way. Once I saw that match, I restarted.
That match is the very best match in pro wrestling for me.. 23 minutes of pure gold. 5-star classic.

Monster's Ball II was kind of random. I mean Abyss & Sabu had been feuding, but for the most part it was just throwing things in there, but that was kind of the attitude of Bound for Glory that year.

They had just gotten the TV deal with Spike and were being viewed by a new audience, so I think they thought "OK, now our regular fans really like AJ/Daniels Ironman, so lets do that again. The Ultimate X is our trademark gimmick match, so lets put that on there. Nash vs. Jarrett (which got cancelled) was one of best reviewed main events, so lets do that again. The fans will get a kick out of Joe vs. Liger, and people loved last year's Monster's Ball, so lets do that again"

It was almost like BFG2005 was an infomercial for TNA, which was actually the right way to go since they had just gotten a national TV deal and were just trying to show what they could do.

Just finished watching Slammi. Here are my ratings.

Kaz vs Petey ***3/4
Great way to open the show. Lots of back and forth action and Let’s go Petey/ Let’s go Kaz chants. I was hoping for the top rope Canadian Destroyer, but the normal one is so devastating too, I love it. I don’t know why Abyss ran in, but we’ll see on Impact. Great action.

ODB/Gail/Roxxi vs Beautiful People and Moose *3/4
Some solid action from these women, but it could have been better. They worked for ages on Gail’s knee so it was a bit dull at times.

LAX vs Team 3D **3/4
Solid action once again. Nothing really special.

Awesome Kong Challenges ¼*
Once again the two fans were treated like toys. I hope this leads to something.

Wedding segment. D to the U to the D
WTF was this doing on a PPV?,this should have been on Impact. The only good thing was the Dutt heel turn, but they immediately destroyed him.

Booker promo: unlike the other solid promos, this one was off the charts. This passion and the determination in his voice were brilliant. I really like the heel Booker.

Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles ****1/4
Better than I expected considering Kurt’s neck problems. A great mix of mat wrestling and AJ’s high flying abilties. I really enjoyed it.

KOTM ***3/4
Not as spotty as last year’s KOTM, but still a very good match. Only the ending was a bit too much rushed. Christian’s cross body and frog splash were awesome.

Overall: 7/10
3 very good matches, one average and 3 TV matches. I'd put this PPV on the same level as AAO, but not as good as LD.

MOTN:
AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle
