So Mike Bennett is gone from TNA.
Was he a success or a Failure?
I personally never caught onto the gimmick for multiple reasons:
1. He came across as a feisty, hard-nosed, "CM Punk-ish" guy. Something about that doesn't fit with some star-studded gimmick such as "The Miracle".
2. His horrid entrance music. I seriously think it hurt him. Some people can overcome horrible entrance music (AJ Styles), but I think the bland, slow, un-crisp theme just snoozed people to death.
3. His booking wasn't the greatest, which isn't his fault.
He certainly was given a massive push, being the first person to pin EC3 out of nowhere. In hindsight, I think Eli Drake should have been that guy. However, what's done is done.
For a time, I think Bennett had a bit of momentum going, but that quickly faded, and oddly enough, it coincided directly with him obviously taking steroids. When he beat EC3, he was far skinnier than he was in his last days at TNA. Sometimes, Steroids helps a gimmick and a wrestler. However, for Bennett, it seemed like it made him just like everybody else. He began wrestling like a bulky tough guy, and I think his style is far more effective as an often-retreating Seth-Rollins, more mobile type heel.
Anyways, "The Miracle" is no more. He left. Obviously, it'd be easy to call him a "failure" due to the final result. However, do you think it was a worthwhile push or experiment? Could they have used him better? Or did he not have potential to begin with?
I think he was worth the risk overall, but badly booked.
