“Oh, it’s true! It was my first time at a wrestling event like that. While in Tough Enough we went to Raw but were instructed to not talk to or say anything to the talents backstage. Going into TNA I was very shy. I’m a shy person. I got to Impact Wresting the second day of tapings, mid-day. I had to tape something. I’m nervous and I walk in. I went to get changed and didn’t say hi to anyone. It’s a big no-no in wrestling but I didn’t know that at that time. They brought me to a room and told me that I was welcomed back to the locker room when I earned the respect. Lucky Chelsea Green was at TNA for a tryout and she explained it to me. I finished the set of tapings and was not allowed in the locker room for a while.”
The shake everyone's hand and say Hi is so stupid. In no other business that I know do you need to shake everyone's hand and say hello to them. You come into work and do your job.
So, there is something wrong with being expected to pay respects to the vets by introducing yourself? Pro wrestlers put a lot of stake in showing respect to people who have more experience than you.
Not to them it's not...it's their life and they take rules and respect very seriously
She should have introduced herself...who walks in to a room full of people and doesn't introduce themselves??? I would have thought she was rude and obnoxious too
If that would've been me. These are the exact same words I'll tell these jealous bitches. I don'the your approval and I definitely don't have to earn your respect in order for me to change into my wrestling gear at the locker room. Gotta problem? Meet me at the parking.
Only on the internet would you see a bunch of people crap on a tradition where you pay your respects and be nice to your fellow workers and act like it's a bad thing just because it doesn't happen in their boring normal jobs.
Wrestling locker room rules are part of the old school pro wrestling traditions. On your first day, you introduce yourself to everyone and shake their hand. It's a form of respect as well as a greeting. Tbh I can totally understand that because I do believe if introducing yourself on the first day at least. But there should really be someone within the lockerrooms to teach the newbies this so they don't end up getting heat for themselves. I wonder if anyone actually told Raquel this when she was training?
Some people acting like this only happens in wrestling have either not worked in a lot of places or misunderstand what is going on. Many work places can be cliquish and/or have a bit of hazing new employees. Not granted due to lawsuits with people going to far a lot of the stuff has been weeded out so it does not happen as much as in the past. One place it still goes on more than average is sports locker rooms.
When I was working at a shoe store after graduating high school I lucked out and missed the hazing as an employee told me about it. A guy who started a few months before me went thru it and I helped another store put a new employee thru it. The hazing was to tell the new guy the store needed their wall stretcher but another shoe store in the mall (or worse in another part of town) and the employee needed to go get it. When they got to the store one of their employees would go in back, grab a good sized box, toss in some shoe stretchers and/or pieces of metal etc then give it to the newbie and tell them they only had part of it as they gave the rest to another store. This would continue for awhile as the new employee would go store to store picking up "pieces" of the "wall stretcher" and hauling around a box of junk that got heavier and heavier while making a lot of noise as they walked before heading back to their own store and being told about the joke.
So she didn't know that when you walk in a room full of people you do not know that you should probably introduce yourself? People are being marks talking about the 'business' when in reality this just comes down to common sense and manners. A person can be both shy and have manners. I am not advocating any of the unnecessary things that have happened to her, however there are no excuses for someone being too stuck-up to say 'Hello!'.
