I'm not big into GFX, but would like to learn how to alter and manipulate images in pictures, and do stuff like take parts of one picture, crop them and put them in another. I've got no software other than what came with Windows, and feel free to consider me a photoshop ignoramus.

This is not something I would spend a lot of time on, maybe tinker with every once in a while unless I get into it. Would anyone have any suggestions as to software, or downloadable programs I could teach myself to use for doing this?
Good photo manipulation takes time to do. It's not something that you're gunna whip up real quick. You have to keep cutting, altering and blending until something looks completely natural.

WWF just recently posted a tutorial done by booned that probably took him more than an hour for example.

Yeah, I'm not looking to become the next sig and avy on this forum, this is just something I want to give a try on for my own amusement. I downloaded Gimp and played around with it for a bit. It'll probably take me a while to get the hang of it. I think I messed up somewhere though, because the user manual didn't download properly. Just have to try that one again.

Is there a link to that tutorial? Or can you tell me the thread name please?

Edit: Thanks, AwSmash

Re: **GFX Help and Resource Thread**

I've been using Pixlr(express & editor) for weeks now because I only have a cheap chromebook that doesn't download anything useful. Anyone knows something better that I can use?

you'll first need a photo manipulation program like Photoshop or GIMP. GIMP is free but it's not as good as PS (that doesn't mean you can't do great work in GIMP as CVDQ's proven). You can try to learn things on your own or you can use tutorials. Just go to google or youtube and type in "photoshop tutorials" or "gimp tutorials" or you can use the tutorial Tenacious. C posted.

Just like above, you could use gimp since that works with chrome os.

Yeah. I never was able to get down to making my own. psd-dreams.de really comes in handy, though you have probably used it before.
