Re: Is Heyman greater than Heenan?

Heyman is a great talker, but a lot of times his promos don't seem fresh, imo. It never felt that way listening to Heenan.

Right now isn't the time to decide who's the better of the two, with Heyman being currently active in the product. Years after Heyman leaves WWE programming most people can look at this from a more accurate, clearer perspective.

On a sidenote, a wrestler named M.V.P. debuted during a battle royal in the early nineties. He dressed like a baseball player and wore face paint.

Vince McMahon: Just who is the M.V.P.?

Bobby Heenan: He's the guy in the baseball uniform.

Yeah, Fuji was awesome, no doubt!

I did indeed, Jim Cornette appeared around that time too if I remember rightly, with the Heavenly Bodies? .. Kimchee with Kamala, General Adnan too I guess with Sgt Slaughter.

Oh .. and of course The Genius, with The Beverly Brothers.

Come on Vince ... it's time ... give Rick Martel his way overdue Hall Of Fame induction.

Re: Is Heyman greater than Heenan?

No. Heyman is great at what he does, but Heenan was in a league all his own. No one has ever come close to Heenan's quick on the spot wit. As mentioned, his work with Flair and Henning during Flair's first WWE run was just amazing. My all time favorite Heenan commentary is when Shawn turned on Jannetty and threw him through the glass and Heenan accused Jannetty of diving through the window to escape.

Heenan has the advantage of nostalgia, but when the dust settles, Heyman should be regarded as better.
Came in to say this but you worded it better than I ever could.

Commentator, absolutely. Mic skills? Heyman's probably top 10 all time in terms of mic skills. Heenan had wit, but he couldn't command an audience half as well as Paul E.

Go back and watch the footage. Heenan had audiences in the palm of his hand.

I find Paul Heyman as a one trick pony on the mic.His promos always seem the same to me.
