Re: HBK vs Taker Hell in a Cell Bad Blood 1997
It is my favourite match of all time.
I wasn't a big fan of gimmick matches at the time but this was new, it was between one of the greatest superstars in the world in Shawn Michaels and this man who was champion pretty much half the year, it main evented and it wasn't even for the belt, Shawn had a mid card European title for god sake, it was a big deal!
Then it happened. They pulled off one of the greatest, if not the greatest match of all time. The story telling between the two was fantastic, Michaels was an absolute pro. Some of the moments in that match were ground breaking and revolutionary, obviously it was the first of its kind in the WWE so I suppose it had to be, the climbing of the cage, the falling off the cage on to the table, Undertaker just absolutely raping Michaels through out the match and Michaels with one of the best blade jobs of all time, one of the most brutal chair shots to the head too.
Then the lights go out and this absolute monster comes down to the ring, rips the cell off and tombstones The Undertaker. I knew Kane would be debuting, you obviously knew as it was the main event so shit was going down but half way through the match you just get lost in how amazing it is and your mind just doesn't let you remember that Kane is coming so when it does it's just even better.
A five star match that in my view will be hard to top, it had everything. Great story telling through out the match, great spots, a heel being an absolute heel, one of the best storylines of all time in Taker/Kane finally starting after months of build, it had passion, intensity and it's just a real treat to watch over and over.
