I will give Russo credit that he had some good ideas back in the day, Vince acted as a filter, taking all of Russo's good ideas and separating them from the bad ones. These days Vince seems to just filter everything out, if it's not exactly what Vince wants, it's a bad idea.
Soap Opera and Hollywood writers are the problem. Vince Russo is not either of them. He knows wrestling. He was a part of the business for 6 years before he became head writer. He is a wrestling fan. Maybe he values the entertainment aspect more than the technical wrestling, but he is a wrestling writer. He has spoken in the past how Hollywood writers are not good for the business because there is nothing else in the world like wrestling. And it's true.

Does a dude writing an episode for a sitcom come up with every single fucking joke on his/her own? Uh, no, there's an entire writing team pitching gags and plot points; that same method of writing a show applies to wrestling.

Also, people are so quick to forget that he had Vince McMahon breathing down his neck and watching his every move.
Yup, he may have had some main ideas but they were filtered by Vince and developed not only by Russo but the rest of the writers, who may have come up with the memorable dialogue, etc. and seemingly never get any credit or recognition.

not talking about creating the next hogan or austin but if you can't create stars on the level of heymans ecw despite being in prime time in 100 million american homes and most of that time the same channel as ufc who were attracting millions of viewers to spike in 2006-10

samoa joe was the hottest talent in the world outside wwf in 2005 and look at him now, years of nonsense like being kidnapped by ninjas, called fat and wearing a fake face tattoo has killed his gimmick, tna had tanahashi and okada under contract while russo was there, russo thought it was a great idea to dress okada up to look like a kato ripoff

tanahashi and okada and now the two biggest stars in japan, their match on january 4 at the tokyo dome drew 29,000 paid
Wrestling was 3x more popular back then, and all of those guys you listed with the exception of RVD barely broke out of jobber mode in the WWE. Taz failed to connect with anyone who didn't watch ECW. Great start but boy did he fizzle. They weren't stars. Dudleys were a decent tag team that got great heat by putting women thru tables.

Samoa Joe didn't go to the WWF and instead decided to be a life long minor leaguer hence why he couldn't move up. I could not identify a single ECWer who didn't go to WWF or WCW. Not if my life depended on it.

Do I think Samoa Joe or AJ Styles could job in the WWE like Sandman, Taz or Raven did? Of course. I wouldn't put past them to get to RVD level, but if you stay in the minors you stay in the minors. WWE can barely scratch a market for wrestling these days there's no way TNA is doing anything. It's not 1998 anymore the wrestling fad is dead.

MMA fans aren't wrestling fans either so TNA being on Spike means jack. Hell MMA is one of the biggest reasons why wrestling will stay in the basement.

I kinda would love to see what russo has to offer. I mean the wrestling aspect is good but In my opinion, i need something else to draw me in..idk if that would be storylines or a rehaul of the product... something needs to give
