Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston is everything that is wrong with WWE
I think this match, which we have all seen 1000 times in the past couple of years, has to symbolise everything that is wrong with modern WWE.
How many times have we seen such matches thrown out on TV for absolutely no reason other than to fill time? It's completely insulting to the viewer's intelligence, thinking that we'll automatically watch just because it's a wrestling match.
Yeah, these two can work well - in the sense their moves are crisp, dynamic and sometimes innovative.. but the lack of storytelling, ring psychology and any reason to watch this shit every single week means I can't help but see both these guys as total jobbers, no matter what they do. Even Dolph, who is holding the world title..
All this would take is an easy fix.. cut the match time in half, give Dolph and Kofi a microphone and let them rip on the microphone against each other without a script beforehand. Not only does it build up interest in the match, it builds up confidence on the mic in both performers and lets the audience know who both guys are, instead of the generic roles they are currently playing.. WWE need to stop trying to hide these guys flaws all the time and let them try and develop them.
I've said it before, but if you look back to the Attitude Era, the reason guys like Foley, Triple H, Rock, Austin and Vince all got over as bonafide main eventers at the same time was because they all got mic time on every show. There was much less pointless wrestling on Raw back then, because the writing team knew that it kills the product as a whole.
The roster right now is actually stacked full of talent, but the problem is the WWE never let them loose and develop themselves on the mic unless they're CM Punk or John Cena.. and in the end, the whole product suffers for it
