He can stand there and look pretty while we all admire him for his accomplishments we know little to nothing about in reality, the number of current fans who actually watched a Bruno match back in the day is microscopic. He's completely irrelevant to the current product

Stone Cold is full of common sense in his response as always, Bruno may not like the Attitude Era, but he's wrong because just about everybody else DID like it.
A bit like how Vince likes the current product but nobody else does I guess. Shame really.

Austin is spot on as usual though, shame more people in the industry aren't as insightful about the business or answer questions like this.

He doesn't have to agree with Austin...personally, the Attitude Era was the greatest thing I've seen to date in pro wrestling give or take certain angles from when Macho Man and Jake the Snake were going strong in the late 80s/early 90s.
Where/how do you rate WCW circa 1996-1998?

nWo vs WCW
nWo vs Goldberg
nWo vs Sting

Some of the greatest wrestling periods/angles of all time.

Weren't there cage matches even before Bruno Samartino's time? Seems a bit like a hypocrite. The only thing the AE has to be ashamed of is chair shots apart from that its just modern entertainment. SGT Slaughter supporting Iraq was considered shocking back in the day and would have been denounced as pro wrestling going too far. It's not like the AE was a bunch of decadent savages.

Bruno wasn't a fan of that era of wrestling either. He didn't like anything Vince touched.

Bruno loved the wrestling business and didn't agree with the direction the Mchman's were taking it. He didn't like the fact that all the territories were disappearing. He didn't like the the focus on entertainment. He didn't like how easy it was for all the boys to do drugs in the lockers room. He didn't like the steroid use. He didn't like the shifty pay days and how talent was treated. Bruno was not a fan of the WWF long before the attitude era. He didn't like working for Vince at all due to his past dealings with Vince Sr.

I can definitely see how someone who worked as hard as Bruno could dislike the direction wrestling took in the 90's. I can understand. I just feel like if you truly loved wrestling you would love to see it reach the level of popularity that it did during that time, regardless of content.

I think a large part of it has to do with Bruno being an overly proud Italian. He doesn't want to give credit to anytime he wasn't drawing.
