Looks like Swagger not only won't be fired..but gets to go to Mania afterall...what message does this send to the locker room? Do you think Swagger will get punished after Mania? My two cents...he got verbally raped by Vince..perhaps fined but thats it...just a one time warning...fair in my opinion..but i wonder what message this sends to others in the WWE?

The last time we had a controversial storyline was the "CM Punk leaving" storyline, I don't think it would make since if they dropped the Swagger storyline just to make a statement to the locker room.

He has got to, its WWE policy. If that go against that, then any superstar in the future who breaks it can easily argue that Swagger was allowed to get away with it.

Don't guys like Orton get busted for stuff and get away clean? lol, give Swagger a break, dude made a mistake. Besides that, the guy is getting some legit publicity that not even the Rock or Brock are bringing in. Vince loves money too much to cancel his wrestlemania match.

Orton got punished. He was suspended for 60 days back in May 30th. He served that entire 60 days and returned July 30th. I mean, if Orton didn't get away with it, its amazing Swagger is. But you are right, if it had not been for Elimination Chamber and Glenn Beck, there is no way Swagger would still have a job right now. This time last year, everyone thought Swagger would be the next to go, he was jobbing pretty much nonstop.

when you are a public figure its all equally bad

Well, they've had plenty of opportunity to take him out of the match by now, I'd say they should just give him a fine and be on their way. Suspensions and start/stop pushes hurt the product.

He got busted with a DUI and possession of marijuana like 2-3 days after Elimination Chamber.

Ok i'll agree with the majority..i think he'll job to Del Rio as punishment at Mania..and then afterwards it'll be interesting to see where his character goes. Ironically right around the time he got into trouble was the whole Glen Beck thing

Rob Van Dam wasn't stripped of his titles, he lost the titles in legit matches. He lost his titles because of his arrest, but his punishment was still delayed until his commitments with the title scene had been resolved. Jack Swagger will be punished accordingly, they're probably just worried that the Wrestlemania card is pretty weak. A last minute change to a world title match is not something they can afford right now, especially with how thin the roster still is.

The guy is probably getting suspended after his storyline with Del Rio is over and Beck and Jones have crawled back into their holes. Although he has probably gotten his ass chewed out by Vince, Triple H, Show, Booker, Arn, Zeb, and every other road agent and veteran they've got. The old school guys would have definitely taught him a lesson by now.

WWE already stuck its neck out too far to end the storyline early or make major changes to it that would kill its momentum. It's all business.

WWE's policy allows for the wrestler to finish the storyline and then face suspension. However, it's rarely happened in a situation with the match booked at 'Mania and getting media attention. Two situations come to mind, Hardy... but he was going into MITB, and was still pushed because he was over, and RVD but his was nowhere near mania and he dropped both belts and took a suspension. He'll probably work until Mania, lose, serve a mandatory 30 days, and return as an upper mid carder after Extreme Rules, with Del Reio moved on to a new challenger.

I wonder if Swagger was supposed to originally win at Wrestlemania? If so he sure screwed this up.

On another note, does anybody think they could work Zeb with another wrestler, in case of Swagger's absence? The Zeb character is quite good, excellent mic work, and I can see him "recruiting" another star to "mentor"

Zeb is the main attraction, but you need the right guy. On NXT Ohno and McGillicutty could work, but I dont see a lot of guys on the main roster working. The only one I can see is Daniel Bryan, since he can make everything work.

I was thinking if the storyline was possibly leading to a stable of sorts. Alberto could join up with Sin Cara, etc.. down the line. Zeb would recruit different guys. If we were closer to Survivor Series, then this could have worked.

Even Santino Marella would be an interesting person to back Alberto up. Yes he's not Latino, but a sort of multicultural alliance if you will, could be interesting. Plus the in ring mic work about Zeb from Santino would be hilarious.
