No, that's not true at all. WWE visits Toronto about 3 times a year, the same as it does any major American city. Of course there are more total shows in the USA, because there's nearly 10 times the population. Per capita though, Canada actually gets more shows than the United States.
No they don't. Canada in total, maybe. But not Toronto.
toronto is a big city overall for the wwe. Hosting many live shows plus RAW/SmackDown. WWE did well for both wrestlemania's in toronto. They should head north of the border more often. I'm not Canadian but if i was a fan from Canada i'd attend as many shows as possible. Also been to a couple live shows recently and they are much better overall than say 5-10 years ago.
Not surprised. Toronto loves WWE. I didn't get to go to this show (Sold out and I didn't want to pay $100 for a house show ticket) but I went to the one last year at Ricoh and it must have been close to 9000 with a hot crowd. I guarantee if they had a PPV in Toronto at the ACC it would sell out. Hell, a raw would probably be close to a sell out.
Would be a smart move if they had a PPV in Toronto as it would post good numbers. Hopefully one day Rogers Centre gets another Mania. Could fit close 70 000 in front of an extremely hot crowd.
If other companies like TNA and ROH were smart, they would start putting on more shows in Canada. There is a clear market for pro-wrestling here, but seeing as how WWE is a monopoly, they can choose their target fanbases and it's clearly not Canada due to the lack of events in recent years.
If a company like TNA did a tour across Canada it would be very successful. They are already pretty popular in Ontario so that's not an issue. But they have Hulk Hogan on their roster who can promote the product here in Canada. And Hogan is well-respected and loved here so his opinion will surely matter to wrestling fans in Canada.
