Who according to you is the Best Heel the WWF/E has ever seen? For me it's the Undertaker during his Ministry of Darkness Era... as the Lord of Darkness he became someone the industry had never seen before and with that spine-chilling appearance and the way he cut a promo with Paul Bearer was so impressive and in a way scary...I like Punk and he too has been a very good heel but TAKER as the Lord of Darkness was on another level... HHH and Y2J are worth mentioning as well...

I find it kind of shocking that this many people are looking back to the marky childhoods and suggesting that HHH deserves to be on a pedestal anywhere near Ric Flair, The Iron Sheik, Jake the Snake Roberts or Hot Rod Roddy Piper. Trips leeched of the heat of the Mr McMahon character, and how insanely over his opponents where. Being on the creative team also didn't hurt.

For me the greatest of all time has to be Roddy Piper. That guy was constantly receiving death-threats, he was hated on a level we've never seen since, and not from anything like cheap heat, but just his own god-damn charisma.

While we are weighing in on our own favourite heels who we have personally enjoyed (a different question to the best of all time), the best heel character I've ever seen would be Eddie's 2005 run, during his feud with Rey Mysterio. I've never seen anything like that intensity, or that level of wickedness. Hypnotically good character.

There have been many great heels: Piper, Rude, Perfect, Million Dollar Man, NWO Hogan, Jake the Snake

But for me personally two stand out :

Vince McMahon: The Mr McMahon character is probably the greatest non wrestler heel character ever

HHH: His stuff in 2000/1 and again 2 years later was amazing. The heat he (and in the earlier period Steph as well) drew was incredible. Every promo seemed to just be drowned out by chants of asshole and slut! And his whole heel persona was incredibly intense.

If you're talking about WWE only, there is only three:

1. Vince McMahon (1998 - early 2001)
2. Triple H (late 1999 - mid 2001)
3. Eddie Guerrero (2005)

Vince is the best HEEL WWE ever created because the Mr. McMahon character was what every average person. A greedy, shameless, selfish, arrogant, demeaning, explicit, lying, cheating, conniving boss of a dark soul that everyone wishes to never become.

Triple H did some despicable and violent actions in his original heel run still cannot be topped by anyone to this day. His heel persona just made you generally hate him (for different reasons for everybody).

Had Eddie not have died, he could have been the greatest HEEL all around SINCE Triple H. The feud with Rey Mysterio was VERY dark and demented. As bad as the Dominic storyline was, the one shining light of it was Eddie's psychotic and unpredictable nature he carried around with himself. Go watch the promos of him that built to their Judgment Day match that year. Ho. Ly. Shit.

This.

I cannot state it enough but as great as Triple H was in making fans hate him, he was also getting very positive reactions from the crowd in 2001 to the point where if he got those reactions today, he'd be the #2 face in the company right now. That is completely unacceptable as a heel, especially one where many newer fans today call the GOAT Heel.

Piper - death threats
HHH - face pops

Difference between night and day.

Hard to pick just one:

But hands down the following:

Iron Sheik
Roddy Piper
Don Muraco
Sgt. Slaughter
Captain Lou Albano
Randy Savage
Ted DiBiase
Dick Mudoch
Mr. Fuji
Curt Hennig
Ivan Koloff
Rick Rude

Take note these guys were true heels, day in day out. And they were HATED in their prime. Absolutely DESPISED. Not like guys like of the last decade or so that were "bad guys". Who actually had a following even when they were heels. Granted some of you guys maybe don't remember these wrestlers, but trust me they were true heels. And they didn't need crazy "out of ring/ backstage" gimmicks to make you hate them. It was all in the ring.

If it's just WWF/WWE, then it's got to be Triple H, for both his 2000/1 run and his 2002/3 run - he looked credible, was presented as a top threat, had great and memorable feuds and matches (particularly Foley, Rock, Jericho and HBK) and was loathed by the fans.

There are a few heel runs I personally like better, such as Jericho's honest man schtick, but I'll give credit where it's due for HHH.

I may actually agree with you, been watching since 1992 and no one else pops into my mind... He is pretty much my number one in the WWE. Outside WWE I think there are better heels but Triple H sticks out well, people really hated him as a heel, and he knew how to tick you off. Heels are not like that lately, too many people will cheer heels now days, its hard to have heels get loads of heat that isn't "X-Pac heat" as people call it. Triple H garnered some great heat especially during his feud with Shawn Michaels.

Mr. McMahon. If I had to pick a wrestler, I might say the Million Dollar Man. His character was perfect for being hated.
