Default Was Rock's return a favour to Vince ?

I dont know how his return came about or if the company was really in that bad spot but was just wondering do you think his return was vince calling in a favour from him ?

" hey Rock i wouldnt normally ask but things aint so great with ........ leaving and ...... out of action, could u come back and work a fued for a year or two between your movies and help build the company back up" kind of thing ?

I mean his career is actually at its highest point so far in hollywood so the idea he needs wrestling to build him up isnt even there now.. maybe a few years when he was doing kids stuff and was on the cuff of A list status but not now he is one of the hollywoods leading men. so i can only think it was vince who asked him as a favour for all he did for his career.

Also playing devils advocate dont you think its funny he returns just after shawn michaels retires and not while he was still in the company ? :P

I think Rock finally deciding to come back is more of a thank you to the fans than anything else.

I don't really think it gets more technical than that.

Rock returning was simply for the love of the business and the fans and for Vince, yes Vince needed Rock because Rock is bigger than the WWE it was the perfect time for the Cena feud ,his Hollywood career was secured and he could come back and he did and the ratings went and are going through the roof, WM 27 did huge numbers, WM28 set a record and WM29 will also set a record....This return has been huge for the WWE and they should be thankful that Rock came back he doesn't need them they need him and these stupid ignornat ICW virgins need to realize that, he is the GOAT and he is the reason casual fans that got away after the Attitude Era watch. Rock = Seats to Asses and he is simply better than everyone in the lockeroom.

Well what he just said is fact? Rock is bigger, older casuals do jump at the chance to see him. He is one of the GOATS, it really is just common fact.

As crap as the ratings have declined since 01, I doubt Vince 'needed' the Rock. WWE is a business and a business is concerned about 1 thing and that is profit. WWE is very profitable and has been doing well in the PG era. Besides I don't think the Rocks' return has done that huge in terms of ratings. If anything it has done the opposite as his limited schedule meant that WWE became very predictable and Punk had to have his title reign drawn out.

Dwayne is back cus he is 40 and has realised it is now or never for a return. I also believe although I have little proof, that he has deliberately delayed his return to WWE because he didn't want his career to be associated soley with pro wrestling, hence why he had dropped 'The Rock' as his screen name.

Looking past all the on-screen respect between the two, I dont think Rock would do McMahon any favours. McMahon sided with HHH and HBK when they tried to push Rock out the door in 2004/5 so he would fail in Hollywood.

Thanks to that BS we missed out on the following rumoured matches:

The Rock vs Sting
The Rock vs Randy Savage
The Rock vs HBK
The Rock vs JBL
The Rock vs Ric Flair
