Re: The Rock's Toronto heel promo (2003) or Shawn Michael's Montreal heel promo (2005
Shawn's was incredible but he had everything on a silver platter, the Montreal heat. The main and most memorable part of his promo was more of a presentation with the Hogan/Bret teasers than what he was saying. He played it to perfection, but Rock's promo was a class of crowd manipulation and another one from countless reminders of why he's untouchable on the mic. He actually turned the crowd on him, nobody expected Rock on RAW, they cheered when they saw him, but what he did was cleverly using their excitement from the surprise to turn everyone of them on him. He mentions Toronto, Canada, they pop big, and he cut them in the middle. With that said, I think that Rock's promo on SD in February 2003 in Indianapolis was even better than that. Watching Rock playing with 15k like puppets, with them trying to boo/cheer and not realizing that they're doing it exactly at the time he wanted them to do it was tremendous. That masterpiece of a promo should be a prime example in every class of crowd interaction in any industry.
