tag team division won't pick up until tna becomes real competition

a lot of people have wondered why the tag team division has been very lackluster over the last couple years. one of the reasons never talked about is that the wwe has no competition. if you look back at the history of tag teams, very few tag teams have lasted together in one company for more than 5 or 6 years. normally teams have a run with a company, leave, and then come back for another run. since wcw went out of business there hasn't been a company where a team could go to for a year or two and then return to the wwe.

the road warriors are a perfect example of this. i started watching them when they got to the wwf in 1990. they left in 1992 and performed in other companies and then returned in 1997. these teams have a shelf life together so wwe has no choice but to break them up, release them, or never put teams together.

Re: tag team division won't pick up until tna becomes real competition

I think the real problem is Vince was too stupid too realize that teams like the RoadWarriors and the Dudleys were main eventing so could a lot of other teams like The Hardys, Edge & Christian, The Stiener Brothers, Batista & Orton, and the New Age Outlaws.

The other problem is Vince looked at the tag team division and this is probably what he saw a bunch of superstars. So now he wants to jump on the Main Eventers earlier. Bret Hart spent WM 2 - 7 in tag team competition he could have easily been the 2nd face in the company behind Hogan and HBK could have been a top heel.
Hart Foundation = Bret Hart
Rockers = HBK
Bulldogs = Davey Boy
Harlem Heat = Booker T
Stiener Brothers = Rick Stiener

So now Vince see's guys with potential in the Hart Dynasty, Cryme Time, and PTP so he breaks them up ASAP to start the singles push.
