That group in NXT had a chance for it but one was released because of a DUI (correct me if I'm wrong on that?) so that went to shit.

I doubt we'll see a gimmick like Kane and Taker in this day and age.

So what works in this day and age? If gimmicks are outdated and wouldn't be taken seriously that means we are condemned to boring and bland character characters?

You're talking about The Ascension. The remaining member, Conor O'Brian, has taken up the gimmick and is using it as a singles competitor.

I believe just about any gimmick could work in this day and age as long as the performer is talented enough.

It will most likely never happen but I'd kill for another supernatural monster but this time, It's a vampire one.

Kevin Thorn was gonna be like that but it just didn't work out.

They could have done something like this with Ryback. Just an unstoppable, mysterious machine who can only say 3 words. They fucked that up though by letting him cut promos and interact with the crowd.

The appeal of Kane and Undertaker was their size AND their athleticism, plus ability to carry the gimmicks. You;d be hard pressed finding another heavyweight with their height and agility. And conor o'brian? ooooOOOooo.... that name just sends chills down my spine.

Agree. For me saying gimmicks are outclassed is crap because when I started watching wrestling in 2007 there was plenty of them and in fact it was what made the product so fun and special.

Now it's just boring with cockyguyintrunks#1, cockyguyintrunks#2, excitingcompetitorintrunks#1, excitingcompetitorintrunks#2, etc etc etc.

We need more Corey Graves, Ascension, Bray Wyatt and Leo Kruger and much less Rileys, Dallases and McGillicutties.

I do agree in this day and age the supernatural bit would not play very well. Thats not to say if they found a good young big man you could not create a new monster like character, you could it would have to be a different angle though.
