Default The hard question (20+ year old fans only please).

If (hoping you are) you're over the age of 20, do you feel you're too old for today's WWE product?

The question comes mainly in regards to the predictability of the product. Now some might argue they don't care if they can predict what's going to happen...but most I've spoken to do. It's like any television show I guess. If you could predict (overall) what's going to happen in every episode of a television drama let's say, a more mature mind would genuinely switch off. I think the WWE is so incredibly lucky to have such a loyal fan base, as older fans seem to have been quite forgiving in the past (definitely in the past couple of years with the product they've served up). Surely now (after the Rumble) it's gone too far though?

It's so incredibly predictable that even a monkey could work out what's going to happen week to week, month to month (overall). I have predicted outcomes with friends for a good year now and without fail we're 95% of the time right on the money. There is no doubt the WWE are happy to play it safe and present a streamline product that can turn away a large demographic of fans, but will also forever keep and not offend another demographic.

So, what I'm asking other 20+ year old fans here is what they think. If you are happy...why? Do you just forgive the predictability because it's wrestling and you've had a connection with it for a while? Do you keep watching in the hope of being surprised? For me this will be the first Wrestlemania in over 10 years that I will not order and was also the first Royal Rumble in over 10 years that I didn't order. I picked the endings of the major matches (including Cena winning) and can do the same with Wrestlemania is why.

This isn't trying to be overly judgmental...I'm genuinely curious.

Im 30 years old and have been watching wrestling for 20 years. I don't feel i am too old for the product, but the big difference between today and 20 years ago was the fact that WCW existed and the WWE had some competition. There were always twists, turns etc every week on Raw back then because they needed to keep you guessing so that you didn't switch over to Nitro.

Thanks for the response. Absolutely agree that throughout WCW's existence the WWE/F was as it should be...unpredictable and incredibly entertaining. For me it only makes it harder to watch WWE today though. I was given a taste of a more advanced entertainment product, only to have it taken away. It's not even about the product having 'attitude'...it's just being more respectful to the fans intelligence as they used to.

That's interesting you still have that same passion. It's what a lot of fans say. I find it curious that people can remain loyal to something which has become so incredibly disappointing.

In my mid-twenties, and TNA definitely resonates with me more than WWE does.

I am well over 20, and I cannot understand why I liked wrestling in the 80's. It is like a disease.

Excellent post.

People. Its sports entertainment, not wrestling, anymore. Deal with it.

Forget Attitude Era and WWF,WCW times.

I hate Cena but..

Vince is getting what he wants. Really. Kids, young women chants Lets go Cena, adult men Cena sucks. This is the past, now and the future. He is over(in all possible ways). The only way to stop Cena is to no heat him. No hate, no cheers, anything. But we know thats not going to happen, right?

We, haters wanna see Cena get his ass kicked, and it happens some times, begining with RVD ending with CM Punk and the Rock who beaten Cena lastly. But at the end, Cena overcomes all odds himself again. He will beat the Rock at Wrestlemania, I would bet 1million dollars on that if i had them. The thing that kids and women want to see. Same business model since 2005. And it is not going to change.
