And the product really isn't as predictable as people think. Its only predictable because people go on the internet and spend hours trying to figure out what will happen while reading spoilers. It was unpredictable in the Attitude Era because internet was still a new thing.
I completely disagree with this. I think it's overly predictable. This and other forum websites don't change that in the slightest. If anything, these websites lean towards making WWE less predictable, as everyone has different opinions of 'what's going to happen next/what they would like to happen next'. I'm on and off this site all the time, but WWE continues to remain overly predictable and difficult to watch.

Some really interesting responses in here FWIW. It seems the general (a few disagree) consensus so far, is that our demographic is indeed too old for the product. It's somewhat reassuring (in a sad kind of way) I'm not the only one who feels this way.

P.S. For the poster who was a couple of months under 20...the thread did ask for 20 year old + responses. It's no coincidence you disagree with most people in here. (slightly joking)

I don't think it is that predictable. Oh, huge surprises don't happen often but that's the point of a huge surprise. If they happened constantly they'd mean nothing.

I never expected the debut of SHIELD at Survivor Series. I never expected Brock to return tonight. Stuff like that really surprises me.

In a word, yes. I'm 30 now and at least 2 or 3 times per RAW I a feeling coming over me like I need to channel Danny Glover and say "I'm too old for this shit".

I watched loyally through the attitude era, then I quit watching from 2002-2008 and have been watching the last 5 years, its starting to feel like i'm only watching out of habit more so than enjoyment anymore and the product certainly isn't for me anymore.

Maybe its time to take another break again until the scenery changes.. I wouldnt mind not watching anymore until Cena turns heel or yields his spot to someone else.

I'm 30 now and truthfully yeah I feel like I've outgrown todays WWE or it's outgrown me. I find myself time and time again watching TNA or smaller promotions on the internet because alot of the time I just don't have that must see feel to it like it had when I was really coming into my own as a wrestling fan. Todays big E stars, at least in my view, while mostly very talented have next to nothing that gets me hooked into watching them. Do I still tune in every week? Yes I do but these days it's mainly force of habit than anything else. It seems to me that WWE lost something that made it magical, I remember when being IC was something to be very proud of. Nowadays it's as if alot of wrestlers barely notice it's around their waist.

Actually watching the Rumble last night and Raw tonight (and a few weeks leading up to this week) I am actually much more inclined to watch TNA from now on. I began watching WWF/WWE/WCW/ECW in 97 and since then I am finding myself making far too many excuses to justify myself watching a television program OBVIOUSLY geared towards children, perhaps we are too old for the business, I will still watch now and then but after about 3 months straight of just consistent let downs I Just think as a Fan i will begin the transition towards taking my business elsewhere, Any of us over 20 are really no longer Vince and WWE's target demo any longer. Now im not some person Bashing WWE and its talent but they are no longer producing an edgy or even remotely entertaining product any more, I will follow Certain guys of course but as for weather or not my loyalty to WWE is fading, thats without a doubt.

I'm 26, and been watching since 96. I took a big break in 2000 til 07, but I've caught up on what had happened since. I've been watching and know wrestling to the point where nothing really surprises me. With that said, I'm just not watching WWE..I watch everything, every good match from everywhere. I love the aspect of wrestling, just not WWE. WWE is a mix of brilliant TV and wrestling, but I can watch Japanese wrestlers get it in, and not know what the fuck they are saying and be caught up in the match. Caught up so much that I don't need commentators, just action. I just appreciate the art of it, and when I see artists who suck, I just tune out. But I watch WWE for the artists like Punk, Bryan, Ziggler, and others because I know at any moment they can produce magic. I will be honest...I can't and will never watch a full 3 hr show unless it's good, but I can still watch the WWE, hoping that I can go back to the day when wrestling was cool. It really was cool back in the day..everyone watched wrestling.

I'm 31 and I don't think I've outgrown the product. I'm also smart enough to know that if I don't like whats going on I can take a 6 month break and not care esp during football season.

I think there is far too much predictability and its getting worse. 1 problem is that there are too many PPV's and too much TV exposure which kills long term story lines in their tracks. Macho Man-Hulk Hogan's Wrestlemania V story line lasted practically a year and the WWF(E) was able to keep it fresh the entire feud as tensions built while they were a tag team and finally after Macho Man's Heel Turn.

Another problem is the brand split. It keeps the WWE pinned in a corner(so to speak) because it only allows Cena(for example) to feud w/ so many Superstars before shit gets stale.

And quite honestly I do think the time to turn Cena heel is now. You got 2-3(Sheamus, Ryback, and Orton) Faces that can fill the vacuum and sometimes having 2-3 major faces isn't a bad thing. And this is how you truly build Sheamus & Ryback into stars. While everyone accuses HHH of burying talent, w/out HHH Cena, Orton, and Batista doesn't get over. Cena can play that same kind of role helping the younger talent get over while being a mega heel. But what do I know I've been watching Wrestling since 85.

I think wrestling results have always been predictable; top guys almost never lose clean, including the losses to monster heels (giants and Lesnar). Maybe there were more shocking moments during the AE, but today is definitely more entertaining than 2005-11.

I don't see why teenagers can't comment on wrestling being predictable; in fact, if there is a difference in predictability 'then' and now, that just shows that we find it more predictable today because we were younger back then. We bought into the idea that Rock might lose even though there was no cheating involved. That doesn't make sense. Even back then, we should've realized Rock will always win absent cheating.
