Does booking really matter?

On this forum there are a lot of complaints about booking, and wrestlers looking 'strong'.

My question is, does it really matter if a wrestler goes through good booking? I mean of course it'd be important to casuals or perhaps those who don't think into booking and the scripted side of things, but to the IWC, who have their opinions on a wrestler regardless of booking and title wins etc, so does it really matter?

I'm not sure if this question is going to seem extremely stupid, but I understand what I mean so don't hate, lol.

I'm relating this to the opinions of people, not the functioning of the company. Of course it's required, but does it matter?

Re: Does booking really matter?

Booking is very important. Every aspect of creative is important. Just like how writing and directing in movies is extremely important. The performers can only do so much with what they are given. It is up to writers/bookers/whatever to give them the material they need to make the product as good as possible.

Re: Does booking really matter?

Booking is the single most important thing in wrestling

otherwise we're just watching 2 random half naked guys dry humping each other for random portions of time

Okay of course it matters for the functioning of the company, yes, I agree that it matters for that. However, if your favourite wrestler was booked badly, is it going to change your opinion of them?

Re: Does booking really matter?

Its not really booking anymore, its 'writing' but yes its very important and if its consistent it can make anyone look like a million dollars.

For casuals yes. If they see someone losing constantly they aren't going to latch on to them the same way they would with someone who wins constantly.

Ahh, see, this I understand. But does it matter to us? I know I might be repeating myself over and over again but I don't really see why it matters to us...

Re: Does booking really matter?

I'd say yes, but to pinpoint why you'd have to look at specific cases.

Look at Zack Ryder, I was a fan when he was at his height VS Ziggler, winning the Title and getting big chants. Now when he comes out, I just feel "meh".

Yes IWC has favourites but that's often based off the things these wrestlers do and if they're told to do shit, they'll provide nothing for the fans to enjoy. They'll provide nothing for the fans to want to support them.
