WWE's massive mistake in 2006
I'll still to this day never understand why Rey mysterio won the 2006 rumble. Hell the guy only won it because Eddie died.
Why the hell wouldn't taker win it? He returned that night. He could have won it and saved an epic wrestlemania match with Kurt angle. Because who all remembers taker/angle great match from NWO? Sure us do but it was the wrong decision. Taker/Angle at wrestlemania 22 would have been a special thing to see.

And the guy's been making a career out of Eddie's death ever since. Fucking joke.

Re: Wwe's massive mistake in 2006
Well, I do agree that Angle Vs Undertaker should have happened at WM. NWO match was incredible, and the WHC triple threat match we got at WM was terrible. I also don't like that Rey's big push to the title was essentially through Eddie's death.
HOWEVER, it seemed pretty clear to me that Rey was getting a big push around the time anyway. Half of 2005 was spent with Rey beating Eddie in pretty much every match they had (did Eddie actually get a single win in that feud?). He was over as fuck too. That being said I doubt he would have won the RR and the the title at WM, but I definitely think he would have won the WHC at some point in 2006.

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006
Yea, Eddie died, but who was the next biggest face on Smackdown at the time? Taker was on hiatus (right?) and Eddie was to have a real proper face turn against Batista, who was going out temporarily for injury recoveries...
Then not long after they pushed Angle as a face, kind of, so they kinda split it to those two.
I have my own thoughts about it too, but Chavo, the guy who was originally given Eddie's position, respectfully declined, so Mysterio was given it. Chavo would NOT be friends with Rey if he took it in a disrespectful manner, so as far as we know Eddie could have told Rey that he thinks he's better than the low-card, etc, etc, and they may have thought "Eddie would've wanted it this way."

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006
The biggest problem was that they booked him to go 60 minutes. It defied logic and realism that such a small guy could last that long against guys like Show, Viscera, Kane and Lashley.
Triple H was playing the iron man in the match. Mysterio should have come in at something like 28.

sounds more like chavo to me, with rey it has more to do with the very marketable mask that he isn't really supposed to wear anymore thanks to bischoff

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006
I'm so sick of people claiming Rey became big because of Eddies death.
Rey was a major star before he even thought about going to the WWE.
