Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006

Rey just rode the "Eddie's dead" wagon for pretty much all of 2006, as harsh as that sounds. But if you really want someone who made a career in Eddie's shadow and has milked his image and memory for all it's worth, look no further than his freaking nephew Chavo.

To my recollection, the plan WAS to do Taker/Angle at Mania 22, and Taker even wanted Kurt to end the streak. I think WWE's push of Mysterio was what killed that plan, though.

I'm a Brock Lesnar Guy.

not buying this. Love Kurt, but no way he would have beaten the streak.

Because, for the most part, WWE has been booked like shit since the end of the Attitude Era. Sad, but true.

Why the hell wouldn't taker win it? He returned that night. He could have won it and saved an epic wrestlemania match with Kurt angle. Because who all remembers taker/angle great match from NWO? Sure us do but it was the wrong decision. Taker/Angle at wrestlemania 22 would have been a special thing to see.
No, I disagree, he was a great call. Two reasons. First, WWE needs their big Mexican star, and there's nothing wrong with that. They need their 'token' characters: giants, monsters, pretty boys, etc. If they had a great arrogant pretty boy, Ziggler wouldn't be as needed. If they had their big bodybuilder that was your friendly buddy (Batista), they wouldn't need Sheamus. And, they need someone kiddies can relate to, and kids LOVE Rey Mysterio.

Also, there are some stars that just need one or two title reigns because they have the credibility to have that to their name, so just give them a title reign to permanently enhance them as characters. Big Show, Mark Henry, Christian (who I can't stand, but ppl love him), and Mysterio. They don't carry storylines well, but they don't devalue the belt cuz they're extremely over, and they're permanently more sellable as stars after they have the belt. So, in a world where world champions don't sell the entire show by themselves anyway, they should carry the strap at some point and have "former world champion" to their name.

Also, putting the belt on Taker is a bit of a waste, cuz his Mania match is a main event no matter what. Use the belt so that Mania can have 3 or 4 main events.

WWE favorites: Punk, Sheamus, Lesnar, Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns,
Del Rio, Orton, Bryan, Ziggler, Wyatt, Usos, Cesaro, Mysterio, Kane
DGPW: Doi, Yoshino, Tozawa, Yamato, Dragon Kid, BxB Hulk, Ricochet, Super Shisa
NJPW: Okada, Nakamura, Styles ROH: Briscoes, Fish and O'Reilly, Young Bucks
All-Time: Rock, Punk, Lesnar, Angle

They just wanted to push Rey Mysterio and that was just the perfect time to do that.

I accept Hayley Williams rep.

Reports have said for ages that Taker offered Kurt a chance to end the streak. Apparently, Kurt respectfully declined, but this was before plans fell through about their match at Wrestlemania 22.

These are dirt sheets, so take them with a grain of salt, although they sound somewhat true to me.

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006

The perfect Rumble-Mania 22 plan would not have been that. But rather:

- Chris Benoit wins the Rumble
- Undertaker wins the title at No Way Out from Angle
- Benoit vs Undertaker for the World Title at Mania 22

Result: The greatest Wrestlemania match that never happened.
