Chavo is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace the WWE, and he was a relatively important mid carder for the entirety of his American career.

I wouldn't say that, he wasn't that big of a deal before Eddie died

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006
i think a few things came into play when making the decsion to pick Rey
Eddies death yes played a HUGE role but only because it was circumstantial to the time that WWE wanted to make Rey one of the "faces" of SD like Taker
the 2006 Royal Rumble only had about 6-8 plausible guys who WWE could have won (rey included)
They wanted to build up that "ultimate underdog" name that Cole was screaming every 5 seconds
In the end I dont believe looking back on it he should have won but hey its in the past

I agree mostly, case in point, they stopped chanting Guerrero's name at Mysterio years ago, but I heard that they still chant it at Chavo in TNA on occasion if that means anything. But more on topic I would love to come in here as the great defender of Mysterio and say you are all wrong but defending him on this forum is a hopelessly losing battle, but even as a huge fan of his I guess I can agree that a Rumble win was a bit much, and there were a plethora of other avenues they could have went if they wanted him with the main title, but damn if I got all my info on Mysterio exclusively through this forum I would think that he was a jobber scrub that should have never made it out of wrestling in churches in Tijuana Mexico, but whatevs thats a rant for another time.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you, I know this isn't the best argument to make in fact it might be pretty weak but so many people wouldn't be calling him overrated if he didn't seem to be rated highly to begin with.

Re: WWE's massive mistake in 2006
Because Rey ultimately deserved it. He deserves to have won a RR, maybe not particularly that one but overall. He deserves much more than he got imo. He should've been a multiple-time WWE-champion by now...
And I do think Rey was bigger than Eddie before they came to WWE, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Wwe's massive mistake in 2006
He's one of the most popular wrestlers they've ever had, is why.

I don't recall a time when Eddie was ever bigger than Rey.
