I don't think Hacksaw was booked to squash Austin. Hacksaw was supposed to beat him and win the title. According to Hacksaw, like a minute into the match Austin told Hacksaw that he was injured and they had to go home and end the match immediately, so Hacksaw pinned him.....and that's why it was a "squash".
Not sure Hacksaw would have any reason to make that up, so it sounds believable.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
I'm a big Austin fan too, but make no mistake, at that time the Rock was the bigger star. Hogan vs Austin doesn't really seem right too, Austin's matches are slug fests, but their fast paced, I just don't think it'd match up well with Hogans much slower style at the time.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
That being said, I can understand why Austin didn't want to work with Hogan, his whole career he got held by this guy and other people who could no longer really work but still hogged the spotlight (even if business suggested this was the right thing to do). And yeah, Austin jobbing to Hacksaw Jim Duggan was a disgrace.

Austin A) Didn't like Hogan & B) Didn't want to wrestle Hogan.
There was really no incentive for him to go into a match with Hogan.

Austin left the company completely because he was against creative decisions with his character. Does that strike you as the type of guy that does matches for paychecks?
Smartass.
He was going to make money regardless.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
Austin was just protective of his brand, just like Flair was in 1991 with Hogan. Rock was never as protective and lost a lot more matches and it didn't really hurt him at all, although he won the match with Hogan anyways so it doesn't really matter.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
Do you people even care about fact? All ive read is conspiracy theories, fact is Steve was never asked to face Hulk until after he retired then he turned it down for 3 straight years. Steve has said this in many interviews why is this so hard to understand?
People claim Steve hated Hogan, bs. Hes said many times he wouldve loved to face Hogan and even said it again Dec of 2012. Steve even said in his 2011 dvd that he felt he needed to work with Hulk not Hall so what does that tell you? Man i hate marks.
