Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
Austin hated Hogan, pure and simple. Hogan buried Austin in WCW, having his buddy Hacksaw squash him on ppv like he did, so pathetic. Guess he held a grudge.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
Never heard that story with Hogan screwing Austin out of the US title to a short job against Hacksaw Duggan. That seems like pure fabrication to me.
But as Bischoff said in his book, Hogan and Bischoff shot down an Idea that Austin, invovling Austin being a relative of Hogan or something corny as that. This was in 1994 or early 1995, Hogan did not like, and to be honest, Hogan was the biggest thing to hit WCW at the time, possible ever which is debatable, but Austin at the time, despite being possible the best worker in the company, was still a mid-card wrestler. Hogan was not supposed to get in to feud with mid carders, he was brought in to feud with the major wrestlers in the company at the time like
Flair, Vader and Sting.
I totally understand why he shot that angle down with Austin, and Austin would be stubborn foolish sob if he was still bitter about it, since he did the exact same thing to Jeff Jarrett in WWF when Austin was at his peak.
But then again I understand why Hogan shot that angle down, but heck I still would have prefered that to Dungeon Of Doom any day of the week

Nope what all these people are saying are nothing but rumours.Austin was never asked to wrestle Hogan over Rock,Rock was Vince's first choice.I think we all need to get over the fact that Rock was a bigger star than Austin by this time.
Austin was asked to come out of his retirement and wrestle Hogan in 2005 to which Hogan agreed to job to Austin and to which Austin denied by saying 'the match won't live upto fans expectations because Hogan's wrestling style and my wrestling style is different'

That I totally agree too. Too bad Austin is too stubborn to give us the fans the dream match we were craving and to get himself a massive payday

The Rock was a smaller star? Back in like 1998, yeah. By 2002? They were on the same level.
And did you hear the atmosphere for Rock/Hogan? How would Austin/Hogan have been any better? Maybe it could've matched it, but I doubt anything could top an atmosphere that was as good as it gets/

I'm not sure if the Rock agreed or not, but I guess since Austin was 100% out of the question, it was either Rock or nothing.

lmao. No, not that.
The Rock was a bigger name than Austin at that point. Why would Hogan be jealous of Austin but magically not of The Rock, when The Rock was already bigger than Austin and had barely gone through 1/3rd of his career yet? Aka, he had a decade or two ahead of him of being one of the top names in pro wrestling. Not jealous of that? But was of a dude with bad knees who's career was winding down?
Think about it.
Also, Austin refused to job to Brock Lesnar shortly after that Hogan thing too and literally didn't even show up to the show that night and stopped going entirely. Would not be surprised if he refused to job to Hogan too and it was the exact other way around than you're claiming. There's a track record of him doing it. The guy didn't exactly put people over very often. Almost all of his losses were screwjobs.

Re: Why did Hogan job to The Rock, but not Austin?
From the interviews i've heard and seen Austin pretty much despised Hogan for the way Hulk and his clique treated him in WcW (like absolute shit) so he never wanted to give Hollywood any kind of meaningful rub, didn't want to participate in any bigger angles between him and Hogan and sure as hell didn't want to give Hogan the kind of exposure that kind of match would give. Not to mention Hogan was super jealous at Austin and didn't want to job to him.
So they put Dwayne instead.
