Baretta was signed to a developmental deal in 2008 and first appeared on the main roster of the company as one half of the Dudebusters with Caylen Croft.

After Croft was released from the company, Baretta moved into a low level singles run, most notably getting a surprise win over Drew McIntyre in 2011.

Baretta was forced out of the ring later that year with a torn biceps, leading to a "Where's Trent" joke online amongst WWE talents, including Zack Ryder's Youtube series. Even after he recovered, he was only used sparingly by WWE.

Baretta is already booked for Pro Wrestling Syndicate over Wrestlemania weekend in Metuchen, NJ, where he will be facing Sonjay Dutt. For more, visit www.ProWrestlingSyndicate.com.

WWE RELEASES UNDERWAY
By Mike Johnson on 2013-01-11 17:24:21 We have heard from multiple sources that WWE is about to release some talents. If and when we confirm names, we will have them here. Stay tuned.

Dwayne returns? young talent shown the door? coincidence? :punk2

edit: that was a joke btw don't turn this into a butthurt mark fest

I can picture them (the jobbers etc) all having a Royal Rumble in a mini-sized ring in Vince's office, and each time one is eliminated he shouts 'YOUUUUUU'RE FIRRRRRRED!' and the news gets updated to the dirtsheets. There is only the bottom ring rope there as well to make it exceedingly more dangerous. They're all hanging on to their jobs for dear life.

Fuck it, that's the way I'd do it anyway.

I'd certainly agree. Nobody was expecting a Trent main-event run, but they could have used him far better than they did - he had a great underdog vibe going for him, and was young enough that he could have kept improving by leaps and bounds. And that's something not unique to Trent - the WWE roster is packed full of above average workers that were given up on, destroyed by incompetent booking or never got a chance.

It's never a nice thing to see someone lose their job, but with the abundance of new debuts in the past year (Sandow, Cesaro, Maddox, Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, Big E and more NXT call-ups to come, likely) some more heads are going to have to roll.

TNA is only after ultra cheap talent thesedays. Trent Baretta could be a good addition to Ring of Honor or PWG. Same goes for Curt Hawkins. Bourne would return as a top name for ROH.

Hunico would head to AAA. Tensai and Yoshi Tatsu back to Japan. Tyson Kidd - when of good health - would probably go to NJPW and soon become one of the top 10 in-ring performers in the business. Primo and Epico back to Puerto Rico.

If they had the money, I can't imagine TNA would be interested in Michael McGillicutty, Ted DiBiase, Ezekiel Jackson and Mason Ryan. Bateman and JTG would maybe a gutcheck tryout. Jack Swagger is too expensive, but a feud with Kurt could redefine him.

TNA would open the cheque book for Mr Ryder, whether people think he's any good or not.

Honestly, all of us who knew who Trent was in the WWE or even remembered the guy knew that this was coming because they just were not using him. It is a shame that the WWE never did much the the Dudebusters and then never did much with Trent Baretta. He got a few small pushes here or there on Smackdown, but thats it.

Sadly, I have a feeling that Hawkins will be gone also. Then only Zack Ryder will be left and honestly, I have even forgotten about him.

Yeah.. that joke got old 3 years ago.

If they wanted to re-build the tag-team division they've really missed out by letting go of the Dudebusters, they need more legitimate teams like that instead of the likes of Hell No and Rhodes Scholars who, lets face it, won't be around this time next year.

I'm expecting Curt Hawkins to be in the firing line next, I'm amazed he's lasted so long given that he's barely been on screen in 2/3 years. Another quality talent being wasted whilst Khali appears on both Raw and Smackdown this week.

If there are more....

EARLY PREDICTION: Zack Ryder is released (perhaps it is no coincidence his Youtube show ended earlier today). No other person in the wrestling industry had a more drastic downward spiral over the past year.

I've just been on twitter and It seems to me that, Skyler Moon is gone aswell, She said shes finally allowed to cuss on Social Media again, So she wasn't previously? but now is? Sounds like a release to me..

Man that sucks, Trent was fun to watch in the ring albeit he did look about 13 and I don't recall any of his mic work. The guy is still young so I don't think this will be the last time we see in the 'E. Shame they dumped Croft a couple years back, I was hoping for big things from The Dude Busters!
