Baretta was signed to a developmental deal in 2008 and first appeared on the main roster of the company as one half of the Dudebusters with Caylen Croft.
After Croft was released from the company, Baretta moved into a low level singles run, most notably getting a surprise win over Drew McIntyre in 2011.
Baretta was forced out of the ring later that year with a torn biceps, leading to a "Where's Trent" joke online amongst WWE talents, including Zack Ryder's Youtube series. Even after he recovered, he was only used sparingly by WWE.
Baretta is already booked for Pro Wrestling Syndicate over Wrestlemania weekend in Metuchen, NJ, where he will be facing Sonjay Dutt. For more, visit www.ProWrestlingSyndicate.com.
WWE RELEASES UNDERWAY
By Mike Johnson on 2013-01-11 17:24:21 We have heard from multiple sources that WWE is about to release some talents. If and when we confirm names, we will have them here. Stay tuned.
So why exactly isnt Mason Ryan fired? He didnt have a TV match in like 15 months nor was used in any form, nor was injured. Are they possibly scared that if they fire him, that TNA might sign him and use him to his potential (if he has any) much like a Matt Morgan who was a joke in WWE but somewhat good in TNA?
Baretta didn't even stand out at all on NXT after his injury so I'm not surprised he was released. Of the names mentioned in this thread, they would be idiots to release Riley or Hunico but I'd be happy to see the rest of them go.
Hunico was never my thing. It's not like he's a young up and comer. He'd be great with Primo/Epico, if that was a thing again. I don't know, just not buying him nor Camacho. I think Primo could out work Hunico and has more of a personality.
lol tbh he lasted alot longer then i thought he would. When i first saw the "dudebusters" debut i knew they wouldnt be going anywhere. Caylen Croft got released straight away and Baretta was a jobber to the other jobbers.
TNA is only after ultracheap talent thesedays. Trent Baretta could be a good addition to Ring of Honor or PWG. Same goes for Curt Hawkins. Bourne would return as a top name for ROH.
Hunico would head to AAA. Tensai and Yoshi Tatsu back to Japan. Tyson Kidd - when of good health - would probably go to NJPW and soon become one of the top 10 in-ring performers in the business. Primo and Epico back to Puerto Rico.
If they had the money, I can't imagine TNA would be interested in Michael McGillicutty, Ted DiBiase, Ezekiel Jackson and Mason Ryan. Bateman and JTG would maybe a gutcheck tryout. Jack Swagger is too expensive, but a feud with Kurt could redefine him.
TNA would open the cheque book for Mr Ryder, whether people think he's any good or not.
Buggy Nova comes back from eating disorder rehab and she's shit-canned. Truth be told I can't imagine the business, especially how the wwe uses women wrestlers as complete eye candy sex objects, would be a good career choice for somebody with body image issues.
I hope Trenty sticks in the business - he's a young guy and really talented.
As noted earlier here on the website, WWE performer Trent Barreta has been released today by the company. Baretta is already booked for PWS for WrestleMania weekend in Metuchen, NJ against Sonjay Dutt. It is also said that there may be more releases forthcoming. On WWE.com, Baretta's profile has been removed from the Superstars page. However, as of this writing, there has been no confirmation on the release by WWE. We're told more releases are coming but they may not happen tonight. We're working to confirm a second release right now. Stay tuned throughout the weekend.
I legit forgot about him to be honest. He's talented, but was never going to make it on his own. I liked the Dudebusters though. Looks like WWE are preparing for a spring clean. I can think of dozens of guys that should probably be cut.
I don't know why people are saying/hoping for Swagger or Riley to be released. Swagger is being repackaged as a face to feud with Cesaro, and once he debuts the IWC will fill buckets and buckets of semen.
Riley has potential to be a top face since he turned on Miz. The guy was green, and they sent him back to NXT where he got injured and underwent surgery. Once he's back, he'll be on TV again and be a pretty good midcard draw.
The only logical releases I see are:
Aksana
Yoshi Tatsu
Ezekial Jackson
Alicia Fox
Camacho
David Otunga
Michael McGuillicuty
Ted Dibiase
Curt Hawkins
Sadly I feel like they'll release Tensai, who I actually enjoy watching when he isn't getting jobbed out to Santino.
I still think Ted DiBiase & David Otunga have a lot of potential. Otunga is green but you don't send talent that can talk, in this day & age, away. It's a lot easier to teach someone to work than it is to teach them to talk.
I'm also not sure how popular on-line Jack Swagger will be on his return. After all, the majority of internet fans do seem to favor heels. I do agree about Riley though.
I guess Linda McMahon senatorial expense finally caught up with the Rock's contract coming in. She spent like what $45 million for nothing.
