The OP is right to a point.

Not about Punk and his fans being a cancer and all that, cuz that's grossly untrue, but about Heels existing to put over Faces. That is the ESSENCE of wrestling. That's what it's about, and to argue otherwise is foolish.

I mean, if you don't believe me than all you need to do is look at the turn Punk has taken for this feud with The Rock.

Until now, Punk has towed the line between being a tweener and a full fledged heel. His character, while pompous and arrogant, has always had the aura of "He's telling the truth, he's right, he's the voice of the voiceless."

It wasn't until last Monday that he actually attacked the fans in a meaningful way and said "Yeah, I'm the bad guy." Before, it was always "I'm not the bad guy, it's (insert topic here) that is the real problem." It's been that way since he started his turn and just now has it finally switched.

CM Punk is finally a true heel and he needs to be to play the folly to The Rock, who is undoubtedly the face in this feud. That is the essence of wrestling there. And it has made this whole thing a lot more interesting, much more so than Cena/Rock (even though I enjoyed that program a lot and the match at WM) mainly because both Cena and Rock where faces at the time. Wrestling is always better when there's a clear face and a clear heel.

I think Punk is hit or miss with some of his heel promo's, they are either really great or really lame. That being said, Punk really doesn't do many heel maneuvers in his matches, things like low blows or going for the eyes, it often seems like Punk's move set is the same regardless of him being a heel or face.

Also, the screw job endings sometimes feel out of place in some of his matches, there should be times where he wins by cheating, but on his own still.

His promo's on Smackdown yesterday were awful, I honestly think they shouldn't have even been put on the show. It seems like he's trying *really* hard to get people to hate him instead of it being a natural process.

To Punk's credit though, I do think he has put over Ryback, even if he hasn't given him the title. Ryback's push in general did most of the work, but Punk definitely did help here.

Now I have never been to a live show, because WWE has never been in Denmark..

But I am not a fan of cheering the heel... The heel tries to get you to hate him, therefore if you are a fan of the guy, then help him becomming over by booing him instead of cheering him.

The boo can easily be used as a sign of "I love what you are doing out there" - And one boo starts another boo, like a cheer starts another cheer..

And then just be silent for the face that you hate Because no reaction is the best way to show that you are not interested

A heel is complimented by being booed by the crowd. That shows they're over as heels. Faces are complimented with cheers.

I'll boo Ziggler at a show, and cheer for Ryback at a live show.
I get you can cheer whoever you want to. But still, IMO, I'm going kayfabe wise.

I'm so ith you there. I love Punk and a lot of other heels, but Jericho was just a slimy bastard. His face and heel personas are SOOOO different, I wanted to see his head torn off, and only during commercial breaks do I remember how great Jericho is.

Half cheering, half booing but 100% of the people in that building are shouting his name. With all the options available in daily life is outdated to believe that you can "force" everyone to love the face/hate the heel.
Brock Lesnar was essentially a heel and he was the biggest draw they ever had.
