We’re breaking news here. We have been told by several sources that El Generico has been signed to the WWE. We talk about it here. But we do also cover a lot including some exclusive insight into the EVOLVE Title Tournament and we talk about a ton of other news including DGUSA, D1W, SHINE, PWG, PWX, CZW and more. Check it out and tell your friends.
interesting. I'm not really familiar with him but after watching his moves on youtube all I can think is "Look at all these cool moves WWE won't let him do."
To be fair, Sin Cara is a real luchador. El Generico is a white guy pretending to be a luchador.
El Generico is a very talented wrestler, but I'm not sure if I can be happy with his signing. WWE has already hurt the wrestling industry by creating a monopoly. I feel that cherry picking all the big name indy wrestlers will only hurt it further.
El Generico may be from Montreal but he's also from Mexican descent, so she has a point! I'm most concerned with WWE signing all the best indy talent and continuing to strip their movesets down to nothing fpalm.
Probably a good thing he joins WWE and gets his moveset watered down , before he kills someone , some of his moves are too dangerous and there was even a few botches on that video that was posted in this thread , besides i cant really imgaine anyone other than maybe sin cara being too keen on facing him to sell his moves , which may cause him to just end up jobbing .
I wish him all the success in the world - no one has deserved it more since Danielson made the move. He's definitely chosen the prime time to go for it in terms of indie names becoming mainstream stars, but so much depends on whether this signals the demise of El Generico as we know him.
Really excited about this. He is a perfec fit for any promotion in the world and deserves being on the biggest stage possible. Hope they keep some form of the generico character
Good luck in that shark tank to one of the best indy guys. He's been entertaining as all hell.
It's a shame, though, cause 'El Generico' will probably not make it to the big shows. They'll just repackage him as some generic dude with a generic name...
I'm also very anxious to see how they use him. I hope they keep the mask on him at least, he's built a great a character. I thought it was a bit odd in WWE '13 when they had all of Generico's stuff on there so you could create him, including his ring entrance. Then they even added the Brainbustahhhh in the last DLC pack, so he's obviously been on their radar, and rightfully so.
Great opportunity for Generico here, he deserves this shot. He's been among the best in the world for years now. I hope he does great and I believe that he will, and if things don't work out up there, everyone will welcome him back to the indies with open arms.
Awesome! Thrilled to death for him, but losing him will be a blow to the indy circuit. Hope folks at WWE understand what makes him unique and don't mess with too much of that.
I'm extremely happy with the signings they've been making of late but always with the please don't screw this up ! tag attached.
I've always said they should've just got him instead of Mistico in the first place, gave him 6 months to tan and tone up and stick a fancy mask on him and he'd be twice as over as Sin Cara is now.
It's great to hear that Generico is finally getting his shot. He's been one of the absolute best acts on the indies for years, and he deserves it. I wish the very best for the guy. I'd love to see him on the main roster. His gimmick is practically tailor-made for the WWE.
I just hope he doesn't debut maskless as Mitch Buchanan.
